Imagine how much better we would have been with Ron Paul in office? Or let's back up the time machine to H Ross Perot. That man spoke truths about what was coming and he nailed it.
Under Paul’s libertarian ideals we would sell off all our federal land to people like Koch brothers who basically own Montana that feel like the elk herd should be privatized and corporations like Black Rock would thrive because he would allow a true free market. It would basically be Industrial Revolution in US over again. The reason we have the EPA and FDA is because of ultra rich ass holes polluting environment and posioning our food. Read “The Jungle”, I know the free market will eventually weed itself of bad business, but how many people need to die from food posioning first. But I guess the government is just as bad with vaccines now so idk. Rant over time for another jack and 7 up, just something to think about with Libertarians

“And who are these rich men north of Richmond? One started a worldwide virus. For the love of money, he prevented people from Farmville (and everywhere else) from taking prophylactics that would have saved their lives. In violation of the Nuremberg Code, he forced millions to take an experimental drug that has permanently damaged and killed huge numbers of people. Not only is this man not in jail, but he and dozens of others are getting rich via pharmaceutical royalty checks. There is another guy who has sold his country out for money. He’s a traitor. He’s also a pervert. His family members are despicable. Not all are men, Victoria Nuland and her neo-con cronies in the State Department have caused the deaths of approximately 400,000 young men in Ukraine and Russia, yet defense contractors are getting rich, and big investment funds have huge equity positions in these defense firms. There’s an FBI director who weaponized the FBI, turning it into a Gestapo organization which terrorizes its political enemies. He’s retired now, but despite lying to Congress and leaking documents to the New York Times, he’s on tour getting rich. Cars and trucks and gas cost more because of dimwitted fat shits like Al Gore. He has made over $1 billion spreading fear and hurting people. There’s an army of lying sleaze bags north of Richmond, all protecting one another, passing oppressive laws and regulations that help themselves but punish the hard working, the honest and the enterprising. They are slimy and smug. “They don’t think you know, but I know that you do.””

folks who are born and raised there can't afford to live there, while the rich white sofisticated elite type continue to buy their second and third homes on the beach

The biggest issue, and we're seeing it here, are people fleeing California and Washington. Thy're leaving in droves and an average middle class family sells their house there for a million dollars and moves east. The locals want to cash in because the market is hot and sell their house, the prices are through the roof because the California types can afford it. If they have a cool mil sitting in the bank what's 300k on what should have been a 150k house? Luckily here we have a city ordnance cap on the number of Air BnB type houses that are allowed. This prevents a lot of the 2nd house type purchasing. Still though the market here is through the roof and so is rent. We have entire subdivisions being built of single-family houses that are rentals, mode1,800 sqft cookie cutter houses with rent starting at $2,400 a month. There is only so much coastline, and living close to it is getting more and more expensive.

Our house that we bought here I looked and looked a long time before purchasing. 15-year-old house that was listed at 425k with price drops down to 375k. The owner had paid $450k only 5 years prior and before that it had sold for 512k. It obviously needed work. The airforce colonel that lived in it the last 5 years never did anything except cut the grass. Landscaping was overgrown, there were 15 different crazy paint colors inside, cabinets were filthy etc. I found out that he had just moved to Belgium. I hit him in the mouth with my offer and bought the house. Had my realtor over the other day and asked about the list price. Between the updates and work we've done and the market uptick I could list it today in the 590k range. I say all that to say this. Sometimes we are looked at as the "rich" people that moved here and priced the locals out. But two things. They don't see the two houses I flipped for a handsome profit before rolling it into this house. And the other is most locals wouldn't have been able to afford this house in the first place, at least not the ones complaining anyway.

Not sure why, but today this song makes me emotional. Not pride, not depression, not sure why. Maybe because it's the cold hard truth. This poor guy is saying the same thing. Take your money, this ain't about money, the message here is so much deeper. The balance in today's world is gone. We have both parents working just to try and give our kids a life we didn't have. Meanwhile the parasite (internet) raises our kids. Then we ask why the world has gone to shit. While this is happening our leadership is taking 40% of our income off the top. Then taking more of it every time we spend it or save it. Taxation is theft
I had this exact same reaction the other morning!! I was watching "reaction" videos on Youtube. Tears came to my eyes seeing people's reactions! What is awesome to see is the reaction from black people. It shows there is no division and it is all artificially created by the govt and media. Every rational human knows this is wrong. We are all being screwed equally. I don't think it will be long now between this song and the outrage over Biden giving billions to Ukraine and $700 per person in Hawaii.

There is a proposed bill for Californians to pay an "exit penalty" for leaving CA!!! CA will tax people for up to 10 years even if they aren't in CA. Wowwww!

I can't comment on everyone's situation. There is definitely usually more then meets the eye and everyone has their own stories. It sounds like you and your family worked hard for everything you have, which is the American dream in my opinion. But all that has changed the past 3 years. I have friends making over 100k a year living with their parents because they can't afford to buy a home suitable for their family, and the only beach we have here is rocky fork lake with an e-coli problem. I know for a fact that the vast majority of properties being sold for 150k to 200k over what they were worth in 2019 are from people migrating from Columbus, Cincinnati and beyond, and they have the $$ that just isn't commonly produced here in southern Ohio by even the hardest of working average families. The "work from home" mindset has completely changed the dynamics of our county. If you were already established pre-covid you are generally fine, but lots of 25 to 40 year olds looking to get established for the first time are shit out of luck. Compasion and truely caring about your neighbors is gone and its every man and woman for themselves, may those with the most money win.. The American dream of working hard and providing a good living for your family is dead in 2023 and im not sure if it will ever get better. I see the line between the rich and poor growing longer everyday and the middle class being dissolved. None of my friends want a handout, we just want to be able to work hard and provide a good life for our families, which requires money, and right now its simply impossible for the average person trying to get ahead. There are lots of really good high quality tax paying citizens who are really being hurt right now by what's going on in the housing market. Im just speaking the honest truth from someone that's living it. We all have our own stories and view life from different lenses.

I have been getting quotes for resealing my driveway and some electrical work. I haven't changed my AZ phone # yet. They ask AZ huh? I have to explain why I left AZ and that I'm not one of those millionairs from out West. Then they see the property and I have to explain the shambles the house was in when I got it and that I haven't even enjoyed my property for the last year since I moved in because I've been fixing this up by myself! I have what I have because I worked my ass of for it. While I am fortunate my house sold for a high price in AZ, I'm no trust fund, handout bitch and hiring out any job at my house is hard for me to do!

When directions in our world make a major change, there is always a central point of catalyst. This man, his song and his message may well be the change in direction this world needs today!
This Hawaii thing is clearly not natural and the investors bullying the locals out of their property is also showing the elite's true colors. Biden throwing billions more to Ukraine to pilfer as much as he can. At this point they are scrambling trying to take what they can because I think they know their days are numbered. They have to be bold now because they don't have the luxury to take ther time and be secret about it. I was hoping I would be able to live out my days in peace here. I wanted 25 more years, but I feel something catastrophic is coming within 5...if that. If that is the case then so be it. I'll do what needs done.

Agree.

Remember, after the hedonism of the roaring 20's, the great wake up of the common man in the 30's did not change the trajectory of the Great Depression. What it did do was change the lust for materialism and division into an awakening with folks coming together and returning to better moral values along with helping their fellow man. Most still suffered, but they began taking care of each other again. Folks turned away from Churchianity and back toward a simple faith which lead to the greatest generation. At this point that would not be a bad outcome again. The wicked will be wicked still, but the moral compass of this nation may return for the young folk. Those jesus Inc. corporate franchise mega church heresy centers hopefully will go by the wayside as they are filled with the same flesh lusts of the roaring 20's and that too would be a good thing. We are certainly headed for some "skinny cow years" directly ahead. Plan accordingly.

For perspective:

The house at the end of my driveway listed for $450 a couple of days ago. That blows my mind for this area. I would consider it an average house that needs updated. That is more then the "locals" here make in a lifetime. Add the interest rate today and I don't even want that kind of person living this close. Because it takes a special kind to pay that kind of money with these rates. There is nothing here, that is why I moved here. Lol

Its absurdity. Literally absurdity. Let me know from what big city and state your new neighbor is. Ill let you know of another young local family going homeless.. Shits going to implode at some point, clocks ticking.

All this talk about money and “wealthy” folks moving to more rural areas is an interesting line of thinking. I see things differently, perhaps than some. I really feel there is an impending doom feeling in the world. Those “city folk” wanting to get into the country likely feel it too. I can’t envision our world continuing on this course for long. It simply cannot. The need to be somewhat self sufficient is coming or certainly feels like it. If I were a “wealthy suburbanite “, I’d feel the need to get to the countryside where I’d have a better chance of growing a garden, dipping water from a well, raising a hog…. And yes, having a few laying hens around the yard. In my lifetime the fact that most everyone has a few chickens these days is the biggest indicator to me that many feel the urge to start down a more self sufficient route. I’m not all that worried about “rich” folks buying around us. I’m more concerned about them being the type of people that will try to steal my chickens when their money is of no use. I hope I am a better marksman. 😁

Same here buddy. And I bet even after all that explaining about how you worked your ass off and it didn't use to look like that, they still hand you an outrageous quote. I call it the house tax. Those guys show up to quote something, see the house, and think they can add 30-40% to the price like I have stupid rich guy written on my forehead or something. I quit being nice about it and have no issues asking if they've lost their fucking mind. 😅.

I still have a 937 number. I sent a local lawn and landscape guy a text because I needed 3 yards of masonry sand delivered, spread in a 20' circle and tamped down for a pool. I already had the sod removed and he could back right up to the circle. Quoted me $3,700. 😅😅. Fuckin stupit.

It's $100 in materials and I live 5 miles from the dirt place. 3 hours labor if doing it alone. I eventually found a guy with a dump trailer that had his number on the side. Turns out he lives 3 miles from me. He brought me 3 yards for $115 and dumped it right in the circle.

I was leaning towards Brock's thinking as well. These could be like minded folks. Buying in tourist areas or close to the Smokies or Rockies? Maybe they just want a second home. If they are moving to rural Ohio, they might be our people. Simply thinking ahead and looking for a simpler life. Realizing they can work from home and don't need to be 20 min from work in a stuffy neighborhood has many people returning to areas they grew up too.

I agree with that philosophy 100%. I don't hate these folks for wanting to get away from the city. Many of these people are my clients. But that does nothing to address the problem that it is creating for the local folks. I bought a house and really nice little spread on 8 acres in 2013 when I was 23 years old for less then what it was worth and flipped it 3 years later for a modest profit, and I was very happy with that. That money allowed me to start my business and provided another young family a good home. I couldn't come close to being able to buy it back right now. Had I held on to that house my mind set right now may be different, but nobody could predict what was coming in the 2020 era. For those who have not been in the housing market for the past 3 years, or didn't already have another house to sell for an inflated price to upgrade to a new one, its really hard to see it the same way as the folks who have been scrambling to find a roof over their families head. Its literally impossible to afford a house right now for most of the younger families. It doesn't make one side right and the other wrong, but it is two completely different perspectives. I can see it from both sides, but when I see a 150k house selling for 300k every other day, it's a natural feeling to get a bit angry, especially when I've paid locally taxes, supported local small business, donated to local charities etc my entire life. And now I'm making more money then ever before and its still not enough to compete with the outside money. Highland county has an average HOUSEHOLD income of 47k. Locals in the housing market for the first time can't afford these prices, especially with the cost of inflation of literally everything else, as well as rising interest rates. The housing prices here are unnatural and not sustainable for locals. Im fairly libertarian in mind set and very pro capitalism but whats going on isn' right and isn't capitalism, it's gentrification. I blame almost all of it not on individuals but on our government for creating the covid fall out mess....which by the way involved both democrats as well as Republicans. I do not have a realistic solution. I read somewhere something along the lines that in the not too distant future most folks in the country will own absolutely nothing and be happy with it, and its really starting to seem likely. Theres a whole lot of the younger generation and we are the ones suffering through this unprecedented housing market the most, and that is not an opinion but fact. I don't give a damn about what beer you drink but i do care about being able to afford a home to call my own.. If someone doesn't understand where I am coming from with these viewpoints consider yourself lucky. This is Biden's America where they want you to either be rich or govt dependent with nothing in between.... and back to topic, this is why this song is resonating with so many of younger working class folks.
