Well fellers, I couldn't have asked for a better day for baseball and a better start to our season! When we were pulling in to the park yesterday, I told my buddy that I felt like it was the first hunt of a mid-November vacation! I love baseball and the excitement I felt yesterday was on par with the excitement I get before a big hunt. To have it pan out the way it did, that was like shooting a big fat doe on opening day!!!
We started off a little sluggish, which is to be expected. We gave up one run in the first, then stranded runners on second and third in the bottom half of the inning. We stranded two more on second and third in the bottom of the 2nd, then gave up two runs in the top of the 3rd. I made some defensive moves in the 5th inning and we turned a sweet double play with me at second and my starting pitched now at short which seemed to set the pace for the rest of the game. We scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th, then shut the down with more great defense in the top of the 6th. I lead of the 6th for us with a double of the fence in left center and we followed that up with 10 runs. I singled again in the 6th, then scored the 10th run before we finally ran out of steam after sending 14 batters to the plate. The top of the 7th was a 1, 2, 3 inning ending with our second best pitcher striking out a dude that used to play for Florida. Everyone on our team had a hit and we only committed one error. Short of a couple bad base running mistakes, we were virtually flawless. I was 2 for 4, which I was happy about, but I was really pleased with how I felt behind the plate. Losing that weight made a big difference in my play. Our team is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year!!!
