Happing right now for a day or two. Depending where you are , you might see the northern lights as soon as its dark. Use your phone in video mode as it picks up color better than your eyes do.

We were under a cloud then as it was unspectacular here. Maybe tonight.I turned off outside house lights and walked out at 10:10pm....the sky was lit up like I have never seen. I'm colorblind and I could even make out the different shades and could watch the bands come and go. No filters, just my wife's newer Samsung phone on night exposure....unreal!
You dont really need filters just long exposure time. If you set your phone camera to long exposure or night mode you should get good pictures. Like 3-6 seconds exposureNot much to look at here, maybe some faint light barley detectable. Are people using filters for these pictures (editing) or were we just under a giant cloud?
