Any of ya'll laid eyes on the bear that's been spotted in the Athens area for the last week or so? I assume some of the sightings are the same bear, but from the reports I have heard, maybe there's more than one roaming around. The first sighting I heard about was photos on the WSEO Facebook page of a black bear near Albany. I have since seen sightings from Athens (most recent one, by Dow Lake spillway along the highway), Guysville, and the Deep Hollow area near Coolville.

No but I did come across some tracks a couple years ago while turkey hunting near Buchtel. To say I was surprised would be an understatement

Edit: heading to my buddy’s place near Jacksonville tomorrow, I’ll keep my eyes peeled lol

Not Athens, but 35 minutes east and within a couple hundred yards of the woods behind my house. Taken 2 weeks ago. If they can show up here, Athens is a likely place to homestead if you're a young bear looking to put down roots!

We saw bears while dirt bike riding/camping in the late 80s to nearly 90s. Just north of Nelsonville off 33. A pair of them. Smaller bears. Some of the others claimed they saw the momma bear. I guess I'm surprised it has taken this long for them to become more regular and visible.
