Bent Brow

Can I just be honest with your for second Phil? You're an idiot if you don't shoot that deer (BB that is). Just sayin... :smiley_crocodile:

Seriously though, that is a hell of a good deer and he is just TOO big IMO to let walk unless you KNOW he will survive. Admittedly so, you are still "new" to this whole game and I honestly feel you are over thinking things. You know the situation there way better than I do, so it is your call to make and I support you no matter what. Just from the outside looking in, me thinks you've been watching TOO much TV. :smiley_coolpeace:

No offense taken Jesse. You very well may be right. You have had more time in the tree stand than I have. You have ridden more roller coasters with some awesome deer. You have had more highs and lows with big bucks posted on deer forums than most of us. Maybe we are simply at a different place in our hunting careers and in 3-4yrs I look back and say "I was an absolute idiot for letting him walk." I don't know. I will text you a couple others I am chasing this year. It seems there are always those 2-3 bucks that you get on camera which make you second guess a fine buck like Bent Brow. For some reason, I can never bring myself to post those on the internet. lmao

I do feel I'm coming from a little "different" place than most, but nothing that qualifies me to decide what makes a shooter on another man's farms. As I said in the text, hindsight is 20/20 when I comes to this game. I was jaded for a while about what was realistic in terms of potential and in terms of getting deer to the next level. You gotta do what makes you happy at the end of the day. I'm just offering a different perspective on things.

Is the buck on the left with the velvet off RSB? His brows look pretty long when looking at him in that pic with his head down approaching the block.

Yes Ric. Right Split and Bent Brow are buddies.

I still say Right Split is safe. I saw him yesterday from my truck. He is a beauty, but he is safe. Go ahead Jesse. Call me an idiot again.:smiley_crocodile:

If I new I had those 2 or 3 bucks on camera, Then I might pass bb. Proley wouldnt in january though.

Wow what a nice buck. I hear you about waiting until next year but I don't know that I would. Too many things could go wrong from now until then then you will never get him

jsyn- You are absolutely right. I had an amazing season last year. Never drew on a buck. Watched an 8pt approximately 110-120" at 58yds with muzzle loader in hand. Set it down and pulled my camera out. Call me weird. I enjoy it all. Watched 2 grey fox frolic in a field mousing was just as big a high light as killing my buck in 2010. I realize this approach to hunting might mean I go YEARS between bucks, but at my current state of mind I am okay with this. In a few years that might change. Then again, this dude walks under my stand this season and I think I will know whether I am drawing on him or not at the moment of truth.

Don't take this as an egotistic attitude. I have been humbled by does, and I am NOWHERE near the level of hunter as many on this site. It is simply how I feel right now. 3 years ago I was hunting some horrible properties full of trespassers and had to hunt my butt off to kill a doe. This buck would be dead all day long while hunting those properties. I am fortunate to have a couple nice properties now and because of this I am on the fence right now.

Decision made. Good old Bent Brow shed his velvet. It is a no brainer. You just can't pass on a deer like this. I might hunt all season and see him from the stand once or twice. If he gives me a shot in bow range, there is no holding back. He didn't lose as much as I thought he would. Shootin'!
