Those new guys look just like the old guys! Lol. I'm glad you two had a great time. All to often we leave the woods thinking about a harvest. That isn't what hunting is about, and you two have captured that in this adventure.

BTW, that cornhole board was hand drawn using Sharpies and 7 coats of clear. The other side was a deer skull with tracks. Simply an amazing set of boards.

Truly great stuff, guys. Sounds like an awesome experience. I've said it for years... Hunting out of state is something that every sportsman owes to themselves. Especially one like you guys enjoyed... Back in BFE, on your own, feeling every aspect of the hunt in the deepest depths of your soul.

I wanted to add that we hunted an area marketed to have great acorns and 10-15 deer per square mile. The lack of acorns didn't help, but that 10 deer per square mile thing is tough. What a change of pace for guys from areas like he and I hunt. One hot doe might shut down 640 acres right quick!

I emailed the wildlife biologist back in September, he said it appeared to be a good year for acorns which will make the hunting tough. We get there, scout the woods, there's no acorns, and the hunting was still tough lol.

It'll make you thankful for what Ohio has for deer. But you can't "get lost" in Ohio either. The deer here seemed to be limited on places to hide in comparison to those kind of states.

Since we've been back, I've sat 3 times on the farm. Missouri made me love the farm more, and hate it more. It's a beautiful place to hunt and there's plenty of good deer, but it's so noisy. Constant man made noises. It sucks. Can't get lost in Ohio is right...

Some of my favorite places to hunt in Ohio are by flowing water (tumbling over/down rocks). Try it sometime Jesse now that you have found that inner peace. Only a couple of times have I seen deer, but I don't hunt those spots to see deer, I go for me.

I have tinnitus and if I was hunting in a spot with no road noise I'd hear nothing but the ringing lol.... That hunt in Missouri would of drove me nuts because of it......

Great recap of your epic adventure. Never releasing an arrow didn't lessen the adventure. A warm campfire, good friends, and a starlit sky is a hard combo to find in todays world. So happy that you two had a great time and made memories that will last a lifetime. Keep doing things like this when your young and able to, is the best advice I can offer up. Your desire will always be there, I assure you, but in time your body will determine what you can and cannot do.

Ya buddy! That's mostly what this trip was about. Bringing home a deer or 2 would of been a bonus. The real prize was the adventure and brotherhood. We both saw deer, I saw 3 of the 200 elk in the whole state, and we met some good people!

Going through my SD card last night and realized I didn't upload many pics from Missouri. Here are a few of my favorites that will help take me back in the years to come. The views along the Current River are awesome and remind you of a time long past...

Like a time when you can see the majestic Sasquatch bathing along a secluded stretch of river... rotflmao

After bathing, the Sasquatch returns to his favorite back scratcher!

If you want to wander some white oak ridges, this is the place to do it. This picture represents 90% of what we saw down there in terms of wooded habitat.

I forgot to mention I met Sasquatch at his winter residence during a scouting mission...

There were several tailgate talks along the way...

Which resulted in stands like this. Still blows my mind we didn't see a deer in this river bottom!

This photo will be the one I go back to time and time again. After our last morning hunt, I went on a scouting mission and popped out on the river at this location. I sat down on a rock for 30 minutes and spent some time working on my "self" deep in the middle of the Ozark Mountains. This is probably the most peaceful spot I've ever been.
