Bilateral Blepharoplasty

Basically, it's the removal of excess skin over the eyelids. I had a skin lesion growing on my right eyelid, that started about 6 years ago and it was starting to interfere with my vision. Being right eye dominant, shooting a bow, handgun or a shotgun at sporting clay events was getting annoying. Plus, at my age, those "bags" were starting to sag, so it wasn't getting any better. After taking a field of vision test, that shows how much of a loss I was experiencing, it was decided to have the surgery.

I'm not gonna lie, the surgery being around my eyes, made me a little more than nervous. The surgeon was comforting in the explanation of the procedure. So, this morning at 7:30 a.m. I had it done. It was about an hour and a half surgery + another hour of recovery. Then I was sent home with antibiotic ointment, antibiotics and ice packs. The "ice packs are ziplock baggies that are half full of Karo syrup. Turns out they conform to the eye sockets and help reduce swelling. Gotta sleep in a recliner for a week, which I never do, so that's going to be different. No driving for a week either. 🚫

I've done the sedation for that procedure many times. I'm interested to hear how much of an improvement you feel you achieved with it.

The "field of vision" test required them to tape my eyes open, similar to what the surgery would accomplish. It was like someone turned up the lights in the room. Over the years, I just didn't realize how much upper and side/lateral vision loss I was losing. Once the welling goes down I anticipate to experience the same visual improvement.

Right now, blinking is tight and it was explained to me that it would feel that way, at first. Even so, I can completely and easily close my eyes.
Also, I'm already experiencing increased light and having to wear sunglasses...which I already have been wearing. Perhaps a darker tint may be required, but only time will tell the tale.
