Binocular magnification

Not much to add but I hate lugging around heavy binoculars in my pack. I have a pair of Bushnell 10 X ? and they are right on the border of being tolerable. That said I do like seeing into the brush a long way's away with them but find I don't use them out of my pack a whole lot. In reality I use my range finder more since it has it's own slight magnification, simply because I often have it at the ready. This is all Ohio hunting though, nothing out West or anything like that. Road binoculars you might as well get the best and clearest you can afford, if they're to sit in the glove box and not lugged around that is.

Maybe once my house is paid off I can think about spending a mortgage payment on glass. I think you guys have talked me into trying a set of 8x. Strictly for the reason of gathering more light. I've never killed a buck and knew how many points it had

Could be. But every buck I've ever killed I decided I was gonna kill it as soon as i seen antlers. I've been know to let a perfectly good 130 walk to kill a basket an hour later. Almost like I have a limit of bucks I can see in range. Once that is reached, the next one dies

Swarovski no longer make the 8x32 EL but do have a 8x30 CL companion that look pretty sweet. Have been researching the differences between 10x and 8x and from what you guys have been saying I want to try the 8x now.

Those 8x42's should serve you well. I've had Nikon's and liked them. My 8x42's are Cabela's. I compared them side by side with Vortex and couldn't see a difference so I saved the 50 bucks.

Later I got 10x42's for hunting in the fields. They are Vortex Viper's, which I got for the Diamondback price during COVID. Both fit in my Alaskan Guide Creations case, which I also got for half off during COVID.

I have 8x50 Steiners with "Charlie Company" stenciled on them, but I leave them down at camp. The 50mm's are easier on the eyes but heavier on the neck.

I like the 8x42's in the woods when I am still hunting. I pick the woods apart then move. Those Nikon's should do the same for you. The more you glass the more you appreciate good glass!

The hawk has landed! After hours of reviews and research I ended up with the 10x. Most of my glassing is 90% open fields and wetlands with 10% being used in the woods. If it was the other way around like if I lived down south in the big woods I would have went 8x. Even my blind looks over CRP ground. The brightness and detail you can see is awesome. Half the weight and size of the Kahles.

Yeah I had to spend fast and not think about it lol. I can't believe she let me do it lol. But dam the quality is hard to describe even down to the accessories. Came with a little brush and soap to clean the housing.

Those look amazing. You sure she didn't propose a trick scenario? My wife told me to buy a new truck. I bought a used one. After the fact she said "I can't believe you were considering a $70k truck. I didn't say to spend $70k. "
