I was asked by a young man from out of state for some suggestions of places where he and his fiancee could visit here in Ohio to do some "outdoorsy" stuff - they're in their 20's, fit, they hike and mountain bike and stuff like that. They are traveling nurses working at the James in Columbus, and he wanted some places he could go in Ohio to do stuff before it got too cold.

I told him about taking a trip down 33 to Athens, staying there (they're not really campers) then going to Strouds Run and doing all the trails there and the lake blah blah blah.
I also told him about Vinton Furnace Experimental Forest and the furnaces there and trails. Told him about the Indian Mounds and basically to check out the ODNR website.

I need some other ideas for them - help me out

Tons of great outdoor rec opportunities in Marietta, including trails in the city, at the Broughton Nature Preserve, and in the WNF Marietta Unit.

You should also tell him about the Baileys Trail in the Athens Unit. If he's serious about coming this way, give him my cell and I can help him out.

Geneva on the lake before it gets too cold and go visit all the covered bridges. Cool to see.

Might as well send them to Jack Pine Studio while they are in the Hocking Hills. He graduated with my sister. Neat place.

Definitely Hocking hills! Ash cave.

Then have lunch at “ Covered Bridge Pizza”
A decent pizza in a real covered bridge in Kingsville, OH. originally built in 1862

Hocking Hills for the scenery and hiking. And plenty of it.

Mountain biking you can hit Mohican or Hueston Woods. I'm sure there are others but I've ridden these (25yrs ago haha).

Cuyahoga is another nice one.

The Mohican area is pretty as well. Some hiking and mountain biking. Probably getting cool for tubing there but might kayak if they can stay dry.

Indian Mounds by Chillicothe? Meh. The highlight of our trip there was seeing Brock at Big City Pizza. 😁
