I went out tonight, talking a big game. I know where there is a good buck that looks sickly on trail cam vids. He's a good 9. Not great, but a good one. I figured I'd slide in there and kill him, even told Boarhead via phone that I was going to shoot him if given the chance. I talk a good game ....
The buck came in perfectly. Ate corn at 20 yards for 15 minutes or so. To me he looked younger and healthier than I thought via the vids. So, I didn't shoot him. I'm an idiot. Saw three doe also, and an owl. Nice evening to be out.

I agree, or did. But as this pic from tonight shows, I don't think he's as old and certainly not in as poor shape as I thought. Three years ago I posted pics here of a buck with a bad overbite. I thought originally it was him but now I don't think he's that old. Who knows. I still may hunt him again. It's fun to have one actually show up when you go looking for them. Doesn't usually work that way.

Brock!Brock!Brock!
What did we discuss on the phone today.
He looks awful old from the pic.big head, overbite and not a bad rack either.

This was my thought as I looked at the pic before reading. The hump above his shoulders and hips look way small for that body TOO. Should've killed him...

I told Brian I was on my way to kill a 5 year old. The deer I thought he was would be at least 5 by now. But like I said, he just didn't look that old in person and he didn't logo nearly as poor as on the previous vids. I didn't think he would make it through winter after seeing those clips. Idk, still some season left.

I dumped some corn out at the gar hole the other day too. It didn't take them long to find it. There are herds of deer there every day. I may have to go hunt there sometime. :). I've dumped 100 lbs twice. It last two days. Got several bucks there too, but none bigger than the one my nephew shot out there, at least not yet.

Some good looking does at "the gar hole".

You sure the buck you saw wasn't like Dean's pet buck that "just needs another year"? lmao

That deer is built weird too! I'd say he's older as well and that overbite reminds me of "Lambchop" the hand puppet..LMAO

Nice deer Brock!

You can plan your plans but you cannot plan your results. If you are not happy with "pulling the trigger" before the kill, you may not be happy after. You will kill one when your ready.
.
On the other hand.....don't let that deer show up here this year.....He's Dead! But I don't have the size deer running around like you do.

Beats me. He may be old enough. The more I look at him, the more I think it's the same buck from a few years back. He has a weird looking nose and over bite like that deer did. Just kinda ugly, if you can ever describe a deer like that. I'll see if I can find those old pics somewhere.

Some pics from the "Gar Hole" farm... I love this place. I may hunt it a little more next year!

Tonight may be the night. We are going into a set up that should provide Mason a shot at one of three bucks. No Giants, but nice deer for a kid at the end of January. We checked a cam where I wanted him to hunt tonight. Pretty sure he could have killed that big old 9 I let walk off a couple weeks ago.... But he shed last night! He came in with horns, walked off for a bit and came back without them. Bummer.

Have you two ever done a double dump together? It's happened the last couple years with my old man and I. By far the best two hunting memories I have! Both were on fawns too, I couldn't imagine doing it with bucks...
