I wish I could take some credit for this but I can’t. Kade killed this one on Paint Creek. There was a truck from Michigan parked there when I went down there to help him this morning. He said there was a vehicle from Florida parked there last night. Ha. Kade just texted to say his buck measures 135”. He’s a very happy kid right now.

I thought I’d try to get out this morning. It was busy as it gets at the shop last night, I was awful tired by the time I made it home. My back is still in bad shape but I figured I’d suck it up and set the alarm anyway. Nope. Gout showed up. Back to bed for a bit. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever get this the woods.

Mason and Kade helped me get an elevated blind up today on the Fayette property. Felt good to get outside for a little bit. Checked the cams. Plenty of nice deer around again this year. I’m sort of tempted to leave them alone in search of a true giant. I’ve never killed one I’d categorize as anything better than “nice”. Then again, nice ones have always made me happy. I guess I’ll decide in the moment. Should be fun the next few weeks.

I’ve been looking at the trail cam vids a little. I know two of these three from last year. I’m sure I probably know the eight point too but I’ll have to look through old vids or trail cam pics to find him. The one with the split G 2 got a free pass several times last year. He didn’t add a lot. I videotaped the two I recognized often last season. I also included a pic I snapped from video Found one of his sheds too. He’s got to be at least 4, maybe five now. He’s never gonna be a giant.

Very disappointing sit this morning. Only saw four does and a coyote. Shot nothing. Mason found this little button buck with an arrow wound in his back leg. Sickening. He walked up on it on the way to his blind. Bummer. I don’t know who shot it but obviously we have a new trigger happy hunter in the neighborhood.
