Has anyone tried “the buck muffin”? I have been reading about them. Supposed to last a long time. Just looking for feedback for anyone that has used them. I have heard @giles nick name is buck muffin.
A friend of mine uses them. A local feed store had a similar product this spring and gave him a half dozen to try out. Nothing ate them and the residual smell would choke a buzzard. So in my limited experience, the real buck muffins seem to be great. Be wary of imitators.
A buddy of mine recently picked up three a week ago. So far he said that coons love them.... LOL He did say it was recommended to get them off of the ground so they do not rot. I think he is using a few bricks underneath to keep them elevated.
I’ve tried protein blocks similar to this in the past. The local deer don't seem to care for them a whole lot, and they typically get moldy and melt in the rain in my experience. Can’t speak for this one specifically though.
I've tried a number of different mineral blocks, deer cane and the Big Tine at TSC. None of the deer even bothered to look it over and most of them gave it a sniff and walked on by.
I've had my best luck with plain ole corn in a bag from the grain elevator or from TSC. They do like the bag corn with molasses on it or ground up apples in it. Otherwise, it's back to plane ole bag corn and they'll eat it right down to the ground.
