Any of you guys like nice car audio systems? I am the age that subs became a thing when I was in the 11th grade. I had the first set of 12” subs on the street that we cruised on. I have always liked good audio and base.

Our new Jeep has the alpine system with a sub, it sounds great and has lots of bass.

My sons car that I have acquired since he has a Jeep now, has a great system that I installed.

The thing that amazes me is how much cheaper the components are, his blue tooth head unit was like $170, I remember buying a nice alpine cd head unit in 1992 and it was almost $500

I will always be a kid.

Funny you mention this, I have been looking to upgrade the sound system in my truck. I too was very fond of rich audio in my teens and early 20's. Sometimes you just want to crank it up while heading down the road.

I would highly recommend crutchfield, they have great prices, customer support, and you get free adaptors for speaker to factory connections and speaker mounting adaptors if needed. Also lifetime technical support

I like custom, loud and annoying things. Most of all, I like to feel my music at high volume. I haven’t had a system in a couple of years though. Haven’t owned anything long enough to justify it.

The system in my sons civic is Rockford Fosgate separates front and rear, 2 10” Rockford Fosgate ported box, alpine amp for the subs, alpine Bluetooth head unit, alpine amp for the separates, all for about $1600. 30 years ago it would have cost $2500-$3000, shocked how much less the stuff is now.

I'd really like to do two Kicker 10 L7's downward facing under the rear seats. I would have to do a custom box, which I'm ok with.
And raise you seat. Hard to fit any full size sub under the seat. That’s exactly why most make shallow subs now. Problem is, they just sound “okay”. Kicker is also a company not known to produce small cubic foot box subs. They generally need a ton of airspace.

Which is why I might have to look at alternatives. Those L7's and the JL W7s are by far my favorite woofers. Both require a large box because of the magnet size.

There’s a few options depending on how much you are looking for. I think my FB has pics of the seat raise I did on my 08’ Dodge with full-size alpine type-R’s. Might also be pics in the thread about vehicles we loved, or something along those lines. Been a minute since that ones been bumped.

I still run moderate systems in all my vehicles. It is SO much cheaper now, especially wattage. Also, great work around for small spaces are readily available. Net Audio and Fox Acoustics have great answers for small locations if you don't wanna mess with fiber glass.

Let's give a shout out to Beener. No. Really. Anyone into car audio, you sorta need to shout at them. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

My truck had a single 10" kicker and some sort of amp in it when I bought it. Upgraded speakers and decent head unit. Nothing to brag about. Solid system for me. Sounds great to the untrained ear. The guy said he threw it in there because he used to be in competitions. To him it was a minimum necessity for when he drove it. A joke compared to what he was used to. For me? Wow!!

I've heard good things about the Skars.
Its in the jeep i just got "hunting truck". I got a 98 grand Cherokee 4x4 from a buddy at a heck of a deal and and it was already in there. Sounds really good to me and they are relatively inexpensive from what i have seen. I had 2 Rockford fosgate 10s in my truck when i was younger but quickly learned the backseat space was more important.....
