Carpenter Bees

On a hunting shack FB page there are many guys who have hung paper sacks to resemble hornets nests under their eaves to get them to leave. Then once gone seal up the exposed wood. We have that problem on the front of our garage and the badminton racket is the most fun.

Carpenter bee traps and badminton racquets....we’ve got a half dozen of each hanging outside. You can get the traps on eBay, Home Depot or make your own.

Do you bait the traps
No, they see the hole, go in to investigate...they see the light at the bottom and go to it. They aren’t smart enough to figure how to get out. The holes are drilled at an upward angle so that once inside the trap, the only light visible is at the bottom of the trap. They are very effective. We’ve already emptied several of our traps this spring..and I’ve killed over 30 with the racquet’s.

Ya swat n the the females or just the big guard males

Traps work sporadically for us. I read somewhere too kill a couple and place them in trap too get them going into it. Lured a couple but wasn’t really worth the effort. I swatted 16 in one day without a single miss!!!! My personal best, thank you very much…. 😂

From there, it went down hill quickly 😂

Also, had a guy tell me he uses a little pinesol in the bottles too lure them in…. Yeah he was full of 💩
