Phil if anyone sees you shooting cattle with a bow you would probably be sending time in jail. Crazy world out there.
So a guy can't kill his own cattle with a bow?

I am sorry. I am unsure if this comment is made out of seriousness or you just trying to stir the pot again. Either way not a intelligent statement in my opinion. If there where only three deer left in the whole state and you where willing to kill them all, all that says about you is that you are selfish, and willing to ruin anyone else's chances at enjoying whitetails just for personal enjoyment. Not to mention that you would be essentially shooting yourself in the foot.
I'm sorry but Crawford County has fewer deer then Richland and probably more in line with Morrow County. There should be no way in hell be a 3 deer county. I'm glad they took away the doe tag for this next season but to keep a county that barely tags 1k deer a year in the company of double that is rediculousness.
seeings how you can't tell the difference between literal, sarcastic and metaphoric rhetoric, I don't think you are in good position to judge my intelligence or my character. grind your axe someplace else.
I hate that the youth season has been moved...hate it. I am not in favor of the return of the added gun season. I too like to hunt with a gun, enjoy it to the fullest. However, I don't think any of the areas I hunt need the additional killed deer that will result. I wonder though, why in the world the DOW would want to move the youth season after its been in place for over a decade. I really liked it, unlike some narrow minded folks that thought it messed up "their" bowseason.
I think the kids got a bum wrap with the date change. Personally, I like that the two day gun season was brought back. Mainly for those who couldn't hunt in the regular gun week. I also was hoping that the late muzzy was put back in the week between Christmas and New Year, but that will prolly never happen.
Reduce bag limits and increase opportunity… Thats one way to kill more deer.
Bingo. Not surprisingly these proposed regs are just more smoke and mirrors from the DOW....
The only reason to bring back the bonus 2 day gun is to raise harvest numbers for next year to blow more smoke and make uneducated hunters think the herd grew and show the FB and insurance that hunters are killing more deer. I didn't like the bonus weekend the last time it was in place and I surly won't care for it this time around. At the end of the day it will just turn more hunters away imho. I think the total deer harvest will be over 180k next season only because of the added opportunity with firearms but if you took that away the numbers would be 20-25k less and would have been around 160k and that would be lower then this past season. Just because the total harvest number increases doesn't mean there was an increase in live deer all of a sudden.
I think it will pretty equal to this years numbers. Giving the "appearance" that they have stabilized the herd.
I also think that the only way we have to have a chance at turning this around, is to educate as many hunters as we can. It's pretty obvious that the small number of die hards aren't going to make a difference. Agree
I don't think the numbers will equal out to this years total. I think this next years total will increase close to 20k over this past years because of the added gun weekend. I think the earlier youth season would be equal to the past years early muzzy numbers making it a wash but that added gun weekend will be higher then you think. Just think about that for a minute here. Your adding two more days of gun so that more people can hit the woods because they can't take off during the work week of regular gun season. Add in the fact this bonus weekend is made for adult hunters that are more proficient and can kill more deer. I say that in just those 2 days there will be 20-25k deer killed going just over a total of 180k for the season.
I agree 100% it will be detrimental. Unless the deer are not there to kill. Which in my area they are not here. Next years numbers will tell the story on the true numbers IMO.
