Chicken Liver or Snails for bait?

I've been reading a lot of info on guys catching stripers, at Kiser Lake with chicken livers and/or sluggos. I've never used live/meat type bait for stripers...only lures.

Has anyone ever used chicken livers or snails (sometimes called sluggos) for bait, to catch stripers?

Never used chicken liver myself, but the guys do good with them at buckeye on the wipers...
