Meh, stupid but in reality, to quote the Gordo. Pussy shit bro. Half the crap from games down here never makes TV. You've never seen a broadcast of Bama fans with the ad-libbed additions to the lyrics of Dixieland delight. But it happens every third quarter during a well timed commercial break.

So their little BS is just that, some unsportsmanlike penalties, clear the field, and get back to it. I will say I think most of them are smart enough not to headbut a ref though.
One thing I thought at the time that might have influenced the call, and I hate to say this, but big time college sports at that level is all about big $$$$$$$$$ and all the politics that go with it, just sayin'....... those refs ain't dummies

This is what the people wanted and complained for so long to get. It's all about ratings, money, and "my team" made it. It's nolonger about building and developing a winning team and crowning that effort with a well-deserved Championship. It's now simply entertainment that's no different than a shitty reality show.

Reality show? Guess Bama or one of the other 2 loss teams can try to run the gauntlet this year for the title. Buckeyes did it last year and were it not for the extended play off would have been at home. I think they proved the value of letting some of the other teams try to earn their way to the top. If you shouldn't have been in the playoffs, you will exit soon and it will be obvious you shouldn't have been there. It does let a 1 or 2 loss team show prove their worthiness.
It's always been about the money. And there has always been teams with loses that are really good teams. Like it or not, this is what the majority wanted. Enjoy the corn pile or not, this is the game now.

I've gone over this 100 times. Regular season and strength of schedule have to count for something. Just because someone makes it through a playoff schedule and ends up winning doesn't necessarily make them the "best", it just means they won. They won that time. Pay that same playoff schedule again and it'll likely have different results. There is far too much randomality introduced in a 12 team playoff. It's the equivalent of rolling a 12 sided die and saying whatever number it lands on is the best and most talented number. The BCS was the closest we had to trying to find the actual best team and crown them champion. A non human bias point based system that factored in a ton of regular season stats. It took the top two teams and gave them 1 shot at the title. Due to strength of schedule points being factored in it also exposed that some confrences have a shit SOS. Today having a shit SOS is a huge benefit because it all but guarantees a playoff spot, and there is zero motivation to schedule tougher games. Take a look at the image Clay posted, it's all shit man, finding the best has been hollowed out for pure entertainment purposes.
How does a nonhuman points system help? It doesn't show improvement throughout the year, injuries, coaching, weather and many other deciding factors on the field.

We can agree to disagree. SOS is tougher in the SEC: IF and only IF they are as strong a conference as their fans believe. The same could be said for any conference at this point. NIL money has leveled the playing field. Every top team has a few cupcakes in the schedule now.

Data doesn't lie, play favorites, or the ratings game and is 100% related to performance, even the things you mention factor in as they have a direct correlation to performance. It absolutely shows improvement throughout the year based on game performance weighted by strength. Beat up some cupcake for 76 points, and 500 yards is worth less than beating a tough team by a game winning TD with only 186 yards. Tie a point scale for stats like first downs, third down conversions, Field Goals, TDs, rushing yards, Passing yards, time of possession, tackles for a loss, hell even throw in yards after contact if you like. Then weight it by a strength factor so when Bama clobbers Ms State, or OSU clobbers OU it doesn't count as much as when they play a much more viable oponent. This promotes a fair and balanced grading system that makes schools schedule real competition games. Every conference will want to make tougher teams and want to schedule tougher teams as it means more points. The beauty is it even grades teams that lost. A loss is a loss, but in the example above, a team like OU is going to get some serious points playing OSU vs. them playing Miami. Hell, OU may lose and still get more points than OSU did for winning. Take the Bama game last weekend. Bama squeaked a win over a 5-7 Auburn. Under a grading system, the performance that Auburn showed against Bama would likely result in them getting more points than Bama did even though they lost. It forces everyone to "play up", it forces development, and it forces true competition. Today the only thing we're forcing is ratings, AD space, and neanderthal chest thumping of "we made it" like any of us had shit to do with it.

Ehhhh. Kinda. Oddsmakers set a spread intended to make both teams equally attractive to bettors. If too much money comes in on one side, they will adjust the line to encourage bets on the other side and balance their risk. The goal is to even it out so one sides losses pays the other sides winnings. Yeah data is incorporated somewhat but mostly its balancing payout vs takein. The house gets their money from the bookings. Simple math, the overall math for the house is to manipulate it so $110 in player losses covers $100 in player payouts. The $10 is their profit after payout. Rarely ever do they lose money.
