So I had a painter come by to give me a quote.

1100sq ft house. 3, bedroom, 1 living room, 1 kitchen.
No need to paint bathroom.
I'm going to pull all baseboards, doors and door trim before they arrive.
No need to do wall repairs like holes as I'm doing that.
Quite literally only have to cut in at the ceiling.
2 coats
single interior color
Paint ceilings white. All 8 foot walls.

Quoted me $2,300.

For that price you'd think I asked him to paint the Sistine Chapel on the ceiling. I'd hate to see the quote if he had to cut in around all the baseboards, doors and windows.

Me too! Lol. I'm having lunch at the local Mexican restaurant tomorrow, I'll ask my waiter if he knows any painters. Farm labor and lawn care is wrapping up and I'm sure someone would like an extra job before heading south for the winter.

in normal circumstance of having base and casing to work around, do wall prep and stuff that is a fair price. For what you need done it is pretty high. you're only talking about 4 relatively small areas based on the square footage of the house. that sounds like about two days work for me by myself. $1200 plus material cost which should be about $250 for average quality material. this is a very easy painting job for a "professional". your painter obviously does not want the job as this is easy money. if I weren't so buried with my own work, I'd road trip it for you.

Appreciate the offer and numbers. It's very easy money, especially since the only brush work is at the ceiling and a little around some kitchen cabinets, the rest is all roller work. You helped make up my mind to do it myself lol. I can't mentally justify a $75 an hour rate for paint labor. I'm in the wrong line of work lol.
