coons, no guns allowed

Ok my buddy has a place I can trap coons. He has WAY to many. He isn't allowed to shoot a gun off in the area even though he has a few acres (2 i think). He is allowed to shoot pellet guns.

My question, if I trap a coon in a box trap will putting the pellet gun between its eyes put it down fast, and ethical?

Unless you have a high power pellet gun its highly unlikely it will kill it. Just do what Jesse or Frank said

Sorry he has a gamo, 1100 ft per second.

It blows through soda cans but don't think that's the best rest.

I rather shoot and ditch but others are options as well. He seems kind of against drowning them though.

Do remind him that dead is dead either by shooting or drowning. Both ways is very fast.

1100 fps is plenty fast.

If it's In a box trap, just take it away and deal with it elsewhere. That gamo is not a pellet gun...it'll do the job just fine. The make hunting pellets for it also that'll help penetrate the skull.

A cheap 870 pump master pellet rifle with pellets will do the job. Even from a couple feet shooting them in the head will kill them.

Get some of the penetrator pellets and shoot the coon in the center of the eyes and ears. Many of the brands will work, but I used these and the coyotes are done before they hit the ground.
Through the ear hole is a good spot. And if blood amount is an issue, behind the front leg is a good spot. I am using the Gamo "Bone Collector" which I believe shoots 1200 fps.

FYI a coon in a box trap will tear the shit out of the trap the first time you catch one...better have a few box traps. And yes, the pellet gun between the eyes will work, might take a couple though.

Watch some Sam Woods Outdoors videos on YouTube. He puts all his coins down with a .22 gamo. They fall instantly.

No the ones I'm talking about are rimfire. I used them a lot when I trained young coon dogs
