Costco or Sam's

When we lived in Alaska we had memberships to both. When we moved here to Ohio we dropped the Costco because of what was available. Sam's clubs is 20 minutes closer but it always seems to be the same items. It also seemed that Costco had better quality clothing items and such. But it has been 10+ years since I've shopped at one. Our Sam's membership is done at the end of this month and I'm thinking about switching. Both offer free shipping now. Prices are comparable on the items we buy on the regular. What do you use and why?

We had Sam’s when we lived in Ohio, that was all we had close by. Down here we have both. We got the Costco membership and we liked it better than Sam’s.
My buddy has a Sam’s membership now, so we’ll go to both on occasion. The two are less than a mile apart so it’s an easy access.

Sams is 25 min away & we hit that once every 2 months or so when we can't get some things anywhere else. Never been to a Costco, though my online membership just expired. Wally World is the main venue for us.

Both stores all stores now days gives ya two fists and the walk of shame feeling once ya leave with what ever ya got. I’m being polite with what I’m saying .

I don't go to either. That is my wife and her girlfriends decision as to which is better. Seems they shop a half dozen different places including Costco and Sams.

I type in Cabelas on eBay and 85,000 things pop up at deep discount prices! Most of them are from when stuff was actually quality. Just got 3 pairs of lined Cabelas jeans delivered to my front porch for half the price one pair was new! Washed them and they turned the water blue, so while they had no tags on them, they were almost brand new!

I hate the quality and prices of the newer stuff...

Disclosure we do Sam’s Pay full price for membership . Never got the 5 dollar membership they sometimes do.

I think this is where I'm at. With young kids the extra travel time wasn't worth it. Now that they don’t have to go with us, I don't mind the drive. Just needed some reassurance that it didn't go to shit over the last 10+ years.

Sams is closer (30 minutes) where I'm at now, but I like Costco much better (2 hours). We bought a membership to Costco just to buy couches and have them delivered! Costco has a waaaaay better return policy too.

Closest Sam’s and Costco are almost 30 miles away, so neither. There’s a BJ’s that went in about half way between but haven’t heard many good things said about it.

I highly recommend the Yardistry gazebo we bought from Costco. There was a warped board and Yardistrys CS was awesome and quick on the replacements of wood and hardware.

Here’s the latest version of the 12x14 gazebo we bought last year and I even like this look better with the black wrought iron bracing they upgraded to. If it goes on sale like they did last year I think it’s a great deal.

Kids or not, buying some items in bulk is the way to go. If you didn't learn this in the great TP scare, shame on you. Whatever canned stuff you eat can also be had. Vitamins, toothpaste, soap, deodorant and other such cleaning items are also great to get from places like this. All items you know you are going to need/use at some point. You can buy an entire flat of something for the price Dollar General is going to charge you for 3 or 4 of the same item. So as long as you have a little space to store things, this really is a great option. They also sell big ticket items like appliances, tires and like Ric pointed out, outdoor stuff.

Times are tough folks, this is a great way to make your worthless dollar go a little further.
