About 15 minutes after I sat down I heard a snort out in front of me down in the field bottom. A doe pops out of the swamp looking behind her and panting. She stands there for about 10 minutes with her tail straight in the air. I can tell by the way she's acting that there is a buck around. At this point she's about 125 yards away and would never get any closer. She then snorts one more time and takes off. Immediately after she's gone a big bodied forkhorn with about 10" tines comes busting out of the swampy bottom after her and out of sight.
Some are getting frisky.

Right at last light 3 doe popped out to my left, but again way too far for a shot. I'm not going to shoot a doe at this point but I'd like to know I could've shot if I wanted to. Way too far.

Kody and my dad saw 3 doe at last light. That was it.

Back to the private property. I'm hunting a creek bottom. I'm surrounded by bedding areas.

Skunked... I guess the deer in my neck of the woods didn't get the memo about being on their feet and moving more.

Love the setup I was in tonight and I think it is a pretty good funnel. It's where all the deer run to die anyway. The creek is where we found Klay's deer and it is where mine ran through back in 2010 and died on up the hill. So, it has to be a place of security and crossing for them.

We shall see...

Updated stats include a sit in the field edge from Tuesday where I jumped a doe in the field and rattled in a spike.

Back in the creek bottom this morning. Skunked here yesterday morning but just had 4 doe go by then a coyote. Doe offered shot. Yote was at 49 yards on a trot. Never had shot. Damn it.

At least I finally saw action! Blind squirrels find nuts, right?

3 more doe came through and crossed the creek. Another one hung up on the hill. Caught more movement and seen an absolute pig. He was at 60 yards making a scrape and thrashing trees. Tried every call. Nothing worked. He just looked my way and did his thing. He stayed right with that doe.

I've been hunting 29 years. Biggest buck ive ever seen in person. Huge 8 with giant bases. If he wasn't a booner I don't know what is.
