VA called yesterday to schedule my yearly. Offered me the shot and I just kind of chuckled. She chuckled and I asked her if asking us working. She said not one person has said they wanted it but she is mandated to ask everyone.

My wife passed on the first round of offerings. She's not thrilled about the long term implications regarding the intersection of genetics/cancer/treatment and how the vaccine could cause issues at that point. Doesn't help she asked my opinion and I'm obviously opposed to it.

My wife opted out as well Jesse. Similar reasons. Too many unknowns. I'm trusting in the nurses. They are smart. They work with other nurses and doctors. They talk. If a large chunk are shying away from it, them I'm following suit.

My wife shared a story with me about a friend of hers that's a nurse at some doctors office. The doctor told her not to get the vaccine at all. Said he studied both the Pfizer and Moderna reports extensively. He strongly insisted/instructed that his nurses not take the vaccine. The wife also said that the doctor intends on studying the other vaccines once they become available.

So, take it for what's worth since the topic came up. I thought I'd share the story the wife shared with me I think yesterday or the day before. Sorry, I do not recall any other specifics, such as names, location or even doctor's office. I'm sure I could get it if I really wanted to though.

My employer somehow convinced the health gurus that my department is medically essential because we make a specialized plastic that goes into kidney dialysis machines. So everyone associated with this department is able to get the maderna vaccine. It’s not mandatory. I say no but the wife is throwing a tantrum. Vaccinations begin tomorrow.

No laughing matter no doubt and I believe that many will have to make that same tough choice in the near future, especially dealing with employer-s and/or employment. I wonder though, should you do decide to get it, how will they identify you and those that have received it and those that did not? Just curious and please, no pressure to answer if you deem otherwise, thanks!

I wish you nothing but the best in whatever you decide to do and thanks for sharing!

I really don’t know what to do. I’m not against vaccines. I get a flu shot annually. I just don’t like the idea of the lack of information and false information on the Covid vaccine.
If I don’t get the vaccine and end up really sick from Covid I will never hear the end of it at home. That right there might be reason enough to get it. It’s not like I’m a good deer hunter with lots of giants in my future so I could be a sacrificial lamb.

It’s been offered and I’m going to pass on the vaccination at this point. I don’t believe my work will require it but that could change. I’m not an anti-vaxer but I would like to see some more long term data. I’m 31 with no significant risk factors and there’s a good chance of my wife and I having more kids (possible implications are unknown). If I was 60+ with significant health history/risk factors, I would probably receive the vaccine. However, with the research I’ve done, I can’t justify receiving a vaccination that does not stop me from contracting or spreading the virus. Ultimately this should be a personal decision that you research and are at peace with when you decide to get it or not.

Most health departments give you a laminated card the size of your drivers license after vaccination. It also goes into a database just like all your immunization shots and boosters.

Really, wow! That's news to me.

As far as I know, I don't have one that I know of. The last time I recall ever receiving any kind of a medical type vaccine/booster shot of any kind was back in the military, in the mid to late 80s and God knows what the hell they actually were.

My kids, which both are now grown adults, received whatever required shots in order to attend public school, even though I wasn't crazy about them being mandatory at the time. Anyhow, we are all currently healthy as a nut and I intend on keeping myself that way as best as I can.

That's good to know and thank you for informing me!

I went last night for my first dose of the maderna vaccine. Did not feel the needle go in or the vaccine. About 3 hours later my arm started to get sore. This morning it is very sore. No other complications as of yet. They keep you for 15 minutes afterward for observation. I got to stay for 30 minutes because in 1990 I had an allergic reaction to ct scan dye. They checked with a doctor to verify that I could even get the shot.
I go back 4 weeks from tomorrow for the second dose. I’m still not sure how I feel about it but I’m committed now.
The CDC also wants to keep tabs of how you are doing and give you a bar code to scan on your phone so you can communicate with them how you are doing...... nope! I passed on that.
They did give me a card stating I had received the first dose.

Florida is considering to call out the NG to dispense doses. Most of the people my Mom & Dad live near think that's a good idea. They are retire COPS, fire fighters, School Teachers from places in the midwest.
