I would say it's that path of least resistance and it links two places they want to be. To the left of the pictures and up the hill is a well grown, maybe 3-5 acre clear cut that the trail goes right into. To the right as they cross the creek the trail cuts straight across the big holla and straight up the other side to the big new corn field on the property. To the N it is so thick for quite a while that they cannot get up the other banks like they used to. To the S are a couple other crossings spaced a good distance between, including one where I have a ladder stand, however they aren't being used nearly as much. The tops of those crossings empty into the same clear cut as it runs along the length of the big holla but they are a little thicker entry which makes this one so much more used.
