I have been tossing this idea around for a while. I think it would be really awesome to have a custom TOO bourbon pick. I have reached out to multiple distilleries and here's what i have found (the two best options imo).
Option 1 - A few of us go to a place and either pick a single barrel or a blend of our choosing. We have multiple bottle, label and even wax custom options available. This requires a MINIMUM of 60 bottles with a set number to increase (groups of 5-10) The cost is also higher at $110 per bottle. This option would also require collecting the $ upfront and hillbilly express to the members or at one of our gatherings as this is a KY option.
Option 2 - A few go and choose from some barrels at an Ohio distillery centrally located. We would be able to personalize with the name of the pick and a sticker but the bottle would look similar to if you bought one at the liquor store but it would be a single barrel rather than a blend. This requires a MINIMUM of 120 bottles but at a lower price of $60 each. These we could individually go to the distillery and buy unless someone needed the hillbilly express option. I still need to get information on how they handle the numbers if we have members back out.
I was also hoping to add a few bucks to each bottle as a fundraiser for the site to keep the lights on but don't consider that reasonable for option 1 and potentially even for option 2.
What are everyone's thoughts?
