Deer hides

Anyone process or know of someone who does deer hides? Maybe to make a rug or something cool?

Any taxidermist in your area can recommend someone. Typically they’re used as a tapestry or a throw over couch/chair, but not sure how it would hold up as a rug.

I’m DIY on my first project doing the same. It’s in pickle mode currently.

235# buck. No hair; no epidermis.

Now PH balanced after the pickle. Semi drip dry then roll up for the placement into my freezer. My schedule is getting busy so I need to put this project on hold until free time becomes my friend again. Next: thaw out, soak in water for a bit, then tie it off on the stretching rack. Following 3-4 hours of stretching and manipulation I’ll let it dry out. Remove from rack, brain tan, and rehang on rack and stretch some more. Once manipulated subtle it will be ready to then smoke preserve.
