Unless I missed it.. I didn't see the .444 mentioned.. any reason why not?

I put that up there with the 45-70 on ease of finding a good selection of ammo....
Good round, but don't see a good selection on the shelf... For my way of thinking unless you're reloading, stick with the tried and true easy too find calibers....

The 444 is a great round but like 'J' said there is no big selection of bullet designs available. Unless you reload you are stuck with just couple.
I shouldn't say it but will anyway. I always considered the 444 a stepchild to the 45-70. I feel the same of the 41 mag as a stepchild to the 44 mag. Neither the 444 or 41 mag have much of a following.

Well I finally made up my mind to go with the Marlin in 44 MAG. Shopped around a bunch, waited on a good sale and mail in rebate and was able to pick this one up at Cabela's in Lexington this weekend for a heck of a price on a price match. Can't wait to shoot it! IMG_3703.jpgIMG_3705.jpg

Nice gun Issac, what'd you end up giving for it? Price match is a good thing....

Thanks guys, also picked up a couple boxes of Remington HTP 240 gr jacketed soft points that were on sale. Hopefully they shoot well, seems like a solid option for what I need. J, Cabela's price is $669 but with the marlin mail in rebate and them price matching a local gun shop I got it for $425 [emoji41]

Thanks, I'm stoked. Did you end up getting one?

No, going to stick with the slug gun for at least another season... Still hoping for some more calibers too come into play before I move on it...
My goal would to have the .35 R.E.M. Become legal to use my grandfathers deer rifle...

That would be sweet! I'll let u know how it shoots. I'm debating whether or not to scope it. Seems a bit sac religious for a lever gun but would make it deadly lol

That has been my internal debate on my Henry 44mag. It is so light and easy on recoil. . . I may have to scope it for my son to use. It would be perfect for him.

Phil, that's why I got it. I wanted the Henry but budget said Marlin lol. It's such a fun gun to shoot and also practical in the field. I think it would be perfect for your boy. It's a great gun to get comfortable with. So sorry about your dad. Find comfort in 1 Corinthians 15:52 [emoji1374]

Lots of luck there but I don't ever see the bottle neck rounds becoming legal in Ohio. Use it in another state.
