Everything was soaking wet yesterday..so guess what happens in 25 degree weather over night. Yup everything was frozen. No point in resetting more rain coming. But I made a few more coon/mink culvert sets to hopefully keep some fur coming.

Taylor, get some snares out. It takes a pretty good ice storm to put them out of commission.

Your doing it wrong if you are catching deer. I use snares for yotes thats about it, have set for a few coons but not very often. I'm guessing you talking about deer walking through snares and pissing you off

I know very few guys who run any amount of snares that haven't had an encounter with a deer.

I've had deer go through them a lot but never caught one.

How many snares have you set? We caught 2 just last year with few snares out. If you can convince a coyote to go through then you can easily get a young deer to go through.

This coyote was caught in a snarewere we had also caught a deer. They were around the same time within a week. Caught the deer the night of the snow then the coyote a few days later.

Yes sir, using deer stops. The deer stops won't keep a snare from closing around the neck of a slick head. I've had plenty that were knocked off and pulled tight where legs were involved. In those cases, the stops did their job.

I used to set a lot of snares for yotes and never had a run in with a deer. I talked to a buddy a few minutes ago that has over a 100 snares out right now and he said he has never caught one either. I believe what you guys are saying I've just never heard of it happening. learn something new every day
