Diablo spotlight on deer hunt log

Option 2-

Park in the same spot and setup around the oak trees where he came out last night. This would give me a good crosswind that he is apparently comfortable with. However he would show up right at the end of my shooting light if he made it there as quick as he did last night.

Option 3-

Slip in past the oaks and setup on the side of the hill where he's coming up. I like this idea but I'm afraid he will here me setting up/walking in. Unless it is raining or windy. This also gives me a crosswind

And option four lol

Slip in from the roadway to the right and try to catch him coming back to bed. This sounds easy but it is super thick as will probably take me a good 45 min to walk 150 yards quietly. And after all that he could slip by me out of range and I would be screwed with him bedded down around me.

Like my dad told me last night your only going to kill him if you try you may lose the game or you may succeed but you will surely lose if you don't try.

Option 5 would be wait until the rut. But I leave for three weeks for work again on the 28th of this month.

I'd like to hear any comments or questions or suggestions.

I'd start by moving east from where you sat, towards where you saw him. Can you set up just inside the field edge? After sitting there a few times, I mould move closer NE, but only with a good wind direction and cover noise, rain or wind.

Oh and put my buddy moundhill back in your old spot, we need some points, lol.

Any farther east there are no trees in the bottom except for right where he is crossing. I can go to the field edge easily but I don't think it will do any good. He may come by but it will be after dark.

I like option 3. If you can find the trail he's using and setup on the downwind side but paying close to the thermals will be your best option. I'd try and slip in as close to that creek crossing as you can but at least half way there just so you have the encounter earlier rather than in lower light conditions. You can kill this fuggar Taylor, like you said, he's killable right now.

Definitely do NOT wait till the rut, stay on him now! Another option would be find his escape route and set up on that and have Jake or your dad just still hunt the edge of the thicket he's bedding in on the backside. Just an alittle something to get him up off his ass and moving but nothing that would blow him out of the hollar or the county.

Goodluck Taylor!

That seems like a good game plan based on your options, but is that gonna work for a morning option? Is he gonna be slipping back into his bed the same way that he heads out to feed? Good luck Taylor!! Hope you drop him this week.

Good deal then. Slip on in there and kill him when the conditions are right. Don't wait for the rut because who knows where he might roam off to. Good luck man!

Good luck Tay Tay, today outta be a great day! There were deer everywhere early last night, hope it carries through to this morning!

Saw a few on my way in. This is where the big boy should be bedding. We've always been shy of coming in here due to thickness and lack of good trees. I walked right down the creek silently and slipped right into a tree! It's a heck of a spot drop tine buck or not. Wish me luck fellas.
