Dicks at it again....

Hunter's were never a large part of their business, once they pulled their gun shit their quarterly earning showed a large decline however. They said it was because under armor started selling in Kohls, but they would never answer shareholders about if the drop was also from sportsmen. Sounds like they put a coffin nail in a segment of their business and are now getting rid of it.

I like how they say that the decline in their hunting sales is due to a decline in the industry as noted by national firearm sales data. Uhhhmm. Hey shithead. Bass Pro just spent like 40 billion to buy Cabellas, I guess they don't share your outlook on the industry being in decline.

It don't matter a damn bit anyway - they'll just share-shift that portion of the business to Field and stream. Breaks my heart because I have found some good deals at both places in the past, but if they aren't going to be supportive of sportsmen, I can't support them.

I do wonder though if the outdoor stores overshot their wad..... It's oversaturated around here, and Gander mountain closed, and everyone I know already has everything they need.

Locally the only thing Dick's is good for is finding shoes, cleats and baseball/softball stuff for us. We had to resort to going to them on a couple occasions because we needed last minute stuff and couldn't find elsewhere. Last time my son and I went over to the gun counter to just look and see what hypocrites they are and were asked if we wanted to look at any. My response probably wasn't the first time the guy heard it by his reaction after I said No, I was just looking to see what other semi-auto guns they still carried since their showboat gun ban of AR's. That said, my daughter stumbled on a clearance center for them where they only sell discounted stuff in the whole store. She found several things I can't believe they made any money on by the discounted price they were selling it at. Some stuff from Field and Stream stores there too.

You wouldn't believe the markup on hunting shit. From what I've seen on Chinese made stuff the markup is about 10x. So a $20 field and stream branded call costs $2 from the manufacturer in China. For goods from US companies not store branded they demand a 60-80% wholesale discount off MSRP to carry it in the stores.

My stepson works at the gun counter in cabelas in columbus. There is a field and stream right across the street. When dicks / field and stream stopped selling ARs, he told me that all the guys that worked the gun counter over there quit and applied at cabelas.

It doesn't matter if dicks wants to stop selling outdoor stuff, they will still peddle it through field and stream.
I cant afford to shop there anyway. Only reason I hit up cabelas is because he gets an employee discount that he may or may not use to occasionally purchase stuff for me.

Fuck dicks. You can get better stuff at better prices on line anyway. If you want to shop in the store, dunham's has a nice selection at better prices, and there is always a smaller family owned and operated store within a reasonable drive

I buy nearly all my outdoor stuff online through Amazon, Cabelas, Midway USA and Mack's PW. Ain't nobody got time for dicks anyways. Right ladies?!? 😂
I will say this, it really scuks when you don't have any local shops. I could care less big or small, but when your in the middle of your deercation and lose or run out of something it really sucks. I'm not paying to overnight something , I need bricks and mortar!

There was a good gun/bow shop on RT 33 just outside of Athens that I’d go to whenever I came to Ohio. Surprised to find out that it closed last year. Now the only game in town is Walmart or a bait shop in logan.

Everyone was surprised, even the employees. They were booming and no one knows why he closed shop and moved to Florida. Someone will take his torch, I’ve been expecting Fin to start spreading south. I’d been going to that store since a was just a tiny shop in Athens.
