Diesel truck info.

Kinda like that Cadillac?
I bought it 30% below book on a repo. 3.5 years later despite needing the hood and spoiler painted, rear bumper replaced and painted, and has a $3k deduct due to the above normal mileage i put on it. It still books trade in 4k more than i owe on it and over 7k more private party than payoff. If sent it over to my FIL and had his guy prep and paint her making it good condition add another 2.5k to trade.

So in the end after 3.5 years of ownership. 110k added miles. It cost me about 8k. Thats what i mean by buy it right.

So I didn't update on how I had to fix the AC line. The line came out of the AC compressor on the passenger's side of the motor, went down, towards the rear, across behind the oil pan, forward along the engine, then under the radiator, and up connecting to the top corner of the evap in front of the radiator. How that was easier that just going up and straight the the front to connect to the opposite corner of the evap is beyond me.. Anyways there was no way to pull the half inch bent all different directions aluminum line out in one piece. Cut it in a straight section below the oil pan and pulled each piece out the sides of the fender wells.

I brazed the hole where it rubbed through on the brake line and purchased a compression splice for the cut i made. Put the line back in and spliced it under the oil pan. I then fashioned two hangers out of rubber grommet and aluminum to hang it up so it didn't rub.

While in Bonaire we rented a toyota Hilux Truck with a 2.7 L gas engine. It was a nice ass Truck. They also make a 2.5, 2.7 and 3.0 turbo diesel model. I didn't take picks of ours but that sucker had a mean stance. Handled offroad superbly, and rode great. Too bad the NHTSA and EPA gestapo won't let you import one.

Just listened to a podcast with Cam Hanes fresh off a water buffalo hunt in the Australian outback. This is the vehicle of choice down there now over a Land Rover. Pretty good endorsement.

Nah I get it man. Just busting your balls. It's definitely a good looking truck. Those type of lightweight 4x4s will go through damn near anything.

Wow. That IS saying something!

Standard short bed truck from what i eyeballed. On par with a Tacoma or Colorado.

So enough truck for a guy who doesn't truly need a truck bed but 4 weekends out of the year. Not quite enough for how I use a truck. Really wish I could get away with a short bed. Just won't work for my occupation.

Depends on how good you are at loading stuff. I moved the majority of my wifes house in 3 pickup loads. I've hauled 20 sheets of 4x8 5/8 sheetrock laid flat in the bed which at 70 lbs a sheet is around 1,400 lbs. Lay it flat across the wheel wells and set a couple concrete blocks under the middle for support. Never had a problem hauling anything from two 12 foot kayaks to a 12 foot John boat in the back. Hauled about 140 retaining wall blocks too. Around 1600 lbs. Outside of using it for a business such as yours a short bed should suffice for 99% of what most truck owners use a truck for. I just looked and the Hilux has a 3k lbs cargo capacity and a 7.5k lbs towing capacity with the 3.0 turbo diesel.

Impressive numbers on the Hilux.
Foreign auto laws. They don't have silly regulations about how advertised cargo and towing capacities can't exceed a certain percentage of gross vehicle weight. They state "Braked towing capacity". The bitch will pull it and that's all they care about. Stopping it shouldn't factor in as a trailer should assist with that.
