Different tractor

I went to Rural King today for a new longer power take off shaft. Cost 150.00 for a complete unit has they have no parts available. But I'll be damn that when King Kutter made the shaft they reversed the 2 ends. My rotto tiller is a King Kutter also. We had to take apart the 2 end and reverse the end on the shaft that attaches to the tractor PTO shaft. Then it's 1/2" too long so tomorrow I'll have to cut off 1" so the 2 shafts will slide over each other.
I only can use the end of the new shaft to attaches to the tractor as the other end on the tiller is attached to a clutch assembly.

Geez. Never had that much trouble matching up PTOs. Sounds like a royal PITA. Hope you get it all squared away and get that tiller going!

My new tractor has been a freaking nightmare since shortly after I got it. I ran great when bought, ran great around the lawn using the bucket to fill in dirt for the landscaping.
Then I put the roto tiller on and went down to the food plot and tilled 600 ft. and the motor runs out of gas and shuts off. The fuel tank is full of new diesel. Hard start and till another 600 ft. and shuts off again, hard start and went up the hill back to the barn.
Changed the fuel filter and it runs great. Put the bush hog on and go back down to the plot and once again it runs for 600 ft. and shuts off. So I changed the fuel shutoff valve on the bottom of the fuel tank that has a filter. Starts up and runs 600 ft. and shuts off. It stalled 5 times going 1000 ft. back to the barn.
I cleaned the filter on top of the fuel pump and not really any dirt there. So I drained the 20 gls. of fuel and put in 5 gl. new diesel and the same results.
The fuel pump and injector pump both pump good strong flow.

So I did a posting on the MF Forum requesting help. I got the normal suggestions of new filter, clean the fuel pump filter, clean the shutoff valve filter. I did all these things and no help.

Finally a guy from New Zealand suggested that the fuel cap was not venting and causing a vacuum so just loosen the cap and don't tighten the final seal.

Today I loosen the gas gas and did a test run and I'll be damn as I was able to drive 1/4 mile at full throttle up and down my long driveway without a problem. Need to do a longer test yet but I just used my Ford 420 tractor to bush hog with last Friday. I have to haul hay home on Friday but I'm not ready to go on the road yet in fear of it stopping. But it does look promising. Such a simple thing and cause a big problem.

ASAP

A friend of mine restored a 68 Fire Bird and had the same issue. He put a new cap on it and the gasket was thicker. We put the old gasket on the new cap and the problem was solved. It's funny how something so miner can make such a difference. Glad you got it figured out Frank.

I have had the same issue before. Glad it was a simple fix Frank. Some of these can be a pain to track down and figure out.
