Had a good field this morning but a really tough hide. Still managed to crank 12 of em, even though one snapped back to life and flew away. Lol. Betty girl got her licks in too. She retrieved all but one of the birds, running down 3 or 4 cripples, including one on a 100 yd blind retrieve that ran off into a bean field. I was a proud papa after that one.

Ground 5 out today. Today was the first time Ace got to toll geese. And it worked flawlessly. I've never seen it not work though....

Ok...I've never heard of "tolling" until now so I had to google it. I can't believe that actually works! Where in the world did you get the idea to toll geese in a pond? I've never seen it done before.

We've been doing it for 10 years. The more geese the better. I've watched 500 geese swim up to 10 yards before.... and Leo jumped in and swam rt into the middle of the swarm of geese..... it's amazing

I'll call ya tomorrow and fill u in....

Works great for those bodies of water where the geese won't decoy and always land in the middle

About a year ago I came across a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and looked it up...pretty fascinating. Given the name, Tollers are known for it but haven't heard of someone doing it with a lab.

Search Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever on youtube, I think I watched videos on them there

never heard of this,,is there video
I'll video it the next time. We hunt gravel pits a lot. And the birds will land in the middle and stay in the middle, all day and all night. So when we have nothing else going on we will sneak down to the bank in the dark. Wait for light, let the dog walk up and down the bank, and when the geese get close enough lay into them. I have literally never seen it not work. Like I said previously, the more geese the better. I've seen a couple collars killed this way also. I killed my only snow in Ohio doing this..... old Leo cruised the bank while I layed there waiting. He got em in close and I spotted old whitey

I'm not a very good swimmer. I'm part African American.
