In contrast here is what a DOW thats worth a damn does.

For those who don't know, I'm in Jefferson county. I know of 9 bucks in my immediate area that have been found. 7 in a creek that runs behind my house about a 1/2 mile away, 1 in another creek on out the road, and one in a lake at Mingo Sportsman. Our local warden has confirmed EHD here and my neighbor received a text with the 80% estimate posted in this thread earlier.
For those who didn't see these in the other thread, here's the pics Ive received so far.
It sure would be nice if Ohio put out a map like Joe posted from Kentucky. Like someone said previously, awareness needs raised. I'm sure many hunters have no idea this is happening.
I'm tempted to walk the creek bottoms here, but I'm afraid of what I might find. My dad and I have talked about checking some of the lakes at the club as well. Some of the ones off the beaten path were ones we discussed.

Just FYI: Hancock county (New Manchester) is in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. Right across the river from me for those who don't know the area.

Nothing to worry about guys. I'm sure the wonderful people at our DOW managed our deer population at a level that accounted for reductions due to disease. One would assume they accounted for a disease killing off deer right before deer season. I mean, that can be the only reason why we havent seen a reduction in limits, a shortened season, or really any show of concern in those areas. It must have been accounted for right? Right? If they look at last seasons dead deer numbers they could easily tell what impact the disease had on todays live population right?

Yeah. They recently looked at last seasons antlered harvest data and determined the disease had zero impact as the numbers haven't changed. That means the population is steady despite EHD this fall.
#ScienceBasedManagement.
The really sickening part of that is that the majority actually believes that shit. I'm sure when numbers are down this year they will blame the weather...
