I've done a lot of reading about CWD. The best thing we as hunters can do is dispose of whats left of the carcass of our deer properly. Don't throw a carcass in a field or woods. Or anywhere a deer may visit. As I understand it. CWD can last for many years in the ground and any deer eating in that area can become infected. If CWD is found in an area that never had it before then its more then likely because of someone dumping a carcass that was infected. Its not to hard to saw up the bones and dispose of them into the trash.
If CWD is found in an area. The DNR will issue enough permits to decimate the deer population. Every deer killed will need to be tested. And after a couple years your hunting will suck. We as hunter need to be responsible and dispose of carcasses properly to avoid this from happening.
At least ehd isn't contagiousAnd it sucks that our ODNR doesn't share that kind of info. Goes back to that education thing I was pushing a few months back.
Great post, thanks for sharing

I agree, just stating a fact. We are dealing with ehd right now.It all sucks...I'd rather fist fuck an orangutan.
. That sucks. This is early as well so the impact may be severe. Hopefully get an early freeze. My county wildlife officer has just confirmed that there is ehd in Jefferson, columbiana, and Lorain counties.

My neighbor across the street works with the guy holding this buck. He was kayaking down Reeds Mill creek behind my house and found 7 dead bucks. This was the biggest.
Slam's post above confirms our fears. EHD has hit Jefferson county.
This buck, and the others, were found 1/2 mile from my house (as the crow flies).
Damn. That was a good buck.View attachment 55801

Seems like there needs to be a perfect balance. Too much rain, get ehd, too little rain, get ehd. Both equal pools of stagnant water.Lots of people I've talked too the last 24 hours claimed we've had too much rain to have an EHD issue.... Guess again...Record rain levels and it's still smacking us in the face with it...
