Last picture of Tank was Sept 2nd. I found him this morning in the creek. Hardly any sign of deer at that farm. Seems like EHD pretty much wiped em out. He rough scored 168".

After talking and hunting, I'm pretty sure it got us again this year. Both properties. Oh well. Nature doing nature things.
Have you found any in Highland county? Last map update the deer i reported off Skeen road is the only one in the county. Ive heard multiple people tell me they have found dead deer but its too much effort for them to go through the reporting online.

No. But I haven't looked as I've been walking around with a blindfold on. This season has been horrible since my first sit. I'm thinking I have half the deer I did when we started.

I wouldn't doubt that a bit. You have to think these properties went from not being hunted to having a quota. There were 4 trucks alone parked off 50 this evening on that property. I dont think they were hikers but who knows.

There was 4 parked on the other side too. And this is the problem the ODNR doesn't see. These travelers come in from out of town and take deer. They have no idea what the local herd looks like or if it can handle them doing so. All they have to go off is previous years harvest and the tag limit.

Hit us exceptionally hard. Over 15 found dead in total talking to neighbors. 8 just on me and neighbor to each side. 7+ across the road… just what we found so far. 🤬
Scouting/ hunting on public today, talked to Michigan hunter that said he had to move public because one area he was in earlier in the week had so many skeletons along the swamp. Not a hood outlook right now.

All I can say is that it's very depressing to even think about. I believe we lost more than half of the local herd nearest to my home, which includes the most mature. I worked hard to grow our herd the past five years. Now it looks like I'll be starting all over again, dang,,,

I think talking to other neighbors on farms around our area we are up to 35... thats just the ones found. Going back on what JB said, every area is different, we hold alot of deer but the farms and cropland around us can hold alot doesn't mean just because we have 20 or more deer that we have too many.
And yea just go hunt but just not into it too much when you know your bucks you were hoping to hunt are dead. I set goals every year and try to kill the best buck on the property..thats just me everyone has different goals. Sure don't wish this on anyone as it is disheartening when you see it first hand. I got tired of smelling and finding them. Will take a few years but they will bounce back especially with other neighbors being on board and not shooting any does for a few years.

I figured I’d give my observations since we ran a bunch of cameras on public and try to get up there to hunt 2x/year. We were getting steady pictures of bucks July-Early September. After that a few started missing and by October we were down to only 2-3 bucks per week.
we drove up about 10 days ago and found more dead deer than live deer. Talked to one farmer that had buried 14 on his property in a 3 week span.
The third buck pictured, my buddy found dead on Halloween about 100 yards from where the picture was taken.
