Electricity Rate Hike

Looks like some folks in Ohio are seeing their electric bills doubling this summer. Appears to be the northern part of the state where first energy covers. But AEP as well….

Supposedly the only portion that will double on customers bills is the “generation” supplier. Greed is a powerful thing unfortunately…..

That’s if the customers didn’t elect to go with a different provider who is NOT First Energy.

We just put electric and gas aggregation on the May ballot. Our Commissioners are interested in county plans that lock in rates for a large portion of our residents. Basically buying in bulk to lower prices.

We're in an electricity cooperative here. It's nice because it's "member-owned" with a board and the members have voting rights. Keeps them in check.

They’re blaming natural gas prices during Covid, although prices are down on natural gas since then.

Much like the hike that comes with fuel. It never goes back down once the price of fuel comes down. Companies are greedy and don't care to ever give the consumer a break.
