Nuisance Trapping.

Moved on to a new species. We've had our barn for 25+ years and have never had rats until this winter. I loaded up on poison and traps today while I wait to acquire a barn cat or two. I bought two of these big traps for shits and giggles. Only took 30 minutes for it to do it's thing. That's a XXL glove for reference.

#1 in the books.

My neighbor has horses. I asked him if he's had them and he said it's happened on occasion over the years. I have no idea how 2.5 decades go by with no sign of them, and then they show up. It's amazing how much dirt they tear tunneling their way through/around stuff. Hard packed clay and they tunneled right through it.

Dumb fuggers ate a solid 4 cups worth of the Ramik green poison chunks last night, so I'm super impressed by that. You can see the green in this one's 💩 on the trap, so we should get a good kill from it. I loaded all the same tunnels up again for Round 2.

The old bucket lid trap was also successful in the chicken coop. Plenty more to go, but a solid start.

@bowhunter1023. You're on the right track with a cat. This one is 16.5 lbs of hell on critters, he caught this rat tonight out in the yard, he also catches squirrels and somehow manages to get moles. A good outdoor cat is worth their feed to keep around.

Only problem is not all cats are created equal. Or maybe I’m just unlucky. I’ve had one that was a bad ass and absolute hell on critters, like yours. Long story… but I no longer have him. So I picked up another one… a mean looking black tom cat… and he’s not worth the collar that won’t stay on his neck. Poor bastard doesn’t have a killer instinct is his body. Just begs for cat food constantly. And now I can’t get rid of him. Lol

That happens, gotta go through a couple sometimes. Luckily they're usually free from the humain society or marketplace. Try not feeding him for a week, see if he hunts to eat. If that doesn't work, sorry kids he ran off, we'll get another one.
