Did a roadtrip to Lake Erie last Thursday. Friday and Saturday was a bust as winds put the waves between 3-5’ so we fished another lake Saturday.
I went up to fish for smallmouth bass and we did ok Saturday for the conditions on a smaller lake in NE Ohio. Wind was out of the NE @20 miles an hour. Temps were in the mid 50’s and my dumbazz didn’t bring any clothes to battle those temps. Figured the rain gear would be sufficient. Wrong…..
Sunday brought better but not great conditions and we were able to catch some smallies not the numbers we’d of hoped for but some good solid 4lb fish. Lots of sheep head and rock bass were caught with a few walleye as well.
Monday was my last day and we headed up and had pretty good weather. Wind was out of the south and we could sight fish and caught close to 30 smallies all in the 3-4lb range.
My best was 4.8lbs and I did catch a tagged fish. Made all the measurements and submitted with the location caught with pictures.
The ODNR biologist emailed me the following day with some information on it. The fish was tagged in the same are a year before. Don’t hadn’t gone far. I was hoping for a great story, but he’s a homebody I guess….
My buddy Shawn was my guide for Sunday and Monday.
Another buddy and his cousin took me out Saturday. Had fun regardless of the weather. But those 0400 wake ups were getting tiresome
Here’s a couple pictures from the trip.
Here’s the response I got from the ODNR biologist…
