Exciting news!

My boys do housework. They clean bathrooms, vacuum, and do dishes. My daughter is not exempt from stacking firewood or helping clean up the yard before mowing, etc. At the end of the day, I want my kids to know what needs to be done to maintain a home inside and out. I want them to have work ethic. I want them educated so they don't get ripped off if they have to hire out a home or car repair. Something tells me your kid(s) will see a similar upbringing.

I was brought up that way, Phil. I think it kinda backfired though lol. I do have a strong work ethic though, just not at doing dishes[emoji23]

No doubt. It just blows my mind how many women don't know how to cook, or keep a clean house, sew a button, properly set a dinner table, get stains out of things, or sit like a lady. I look at women my age and their kids and I wonder what is your mother teaching you besides to be a whore. What do you bring to the table in a marriage. I'm not surprised you're 28 years old with three kids and unmarried. Your mother didn't teach you anything worth marrying and you can't make a whore a housewife.

Then I look at these young "men" that guys are raising and I think to myself what the fuck. Your emo haircut and skinny jeans with your lip pierced just screams sissy boy. Do you know how to turn a wrench, change your oil, clean an animal, repair stuff around the house. Or do you just sit around waiting to go to literary art school so that you can get out, not I have a job, marry the aforementioned whore because she's the only woman that would want your worthless ass and live in a house of disrepair. All the while saying you're going to vote for Bernie because your daddy didn't teach you what it is to support a family and work for a living.

I believe in teaching kids both sides of the spectrum. I also believe in teaching girls to be a highly independent self-sufficient woman so they don't need a man but choose to have one. But I also believe in traditional gender roles because at the end of the day that's the natural way of things and no matter how hard people try they can't conform opposite genders into opposite gender roles. If you try it always ends up like a feminist picnic. Nobody made sandwiches.

post. Of. The. Year !!!!!

Something I do with my daughter in prep of her not getting with said douchbag...is I take her on a date a couple of times a year. I show her what a man is. On her birthday and other special occasions I buy her flowers. I feel it is my job to show her what to look for, not just moms to tell her. Kids are always watching... I may not be the best example all the time, but I do my best all the time. I hope it's enough because in the end I can only control what I do.

I buy my step daughter flowers from time to time. Her dad is one of those douchebags, she's never even met him before.

Jessica is convinced we will have all girls as karma to "calm my southern ways". I told her to be careful what she wishes for because girls need to be taught to cook, sew, keep a clean house, and act like a lady. Lol. If it's a boy he needs to know how to work on things, cut wood, change his own oil, and taught to be a man. Honestly I would be thrilled with a boy or a girl and really just want them to be happy and healthy. Both have their pros and cons.

You will get soooo tired of hearing this. I laugh when people bring this up anymore and they just look at me. But after 4+yrs of hearing it, I don't care what the sex of the child is as long as there are no health issues for baby or mom.

Raise the child right (boy or girl) to put them on the best path possible. Once they are old enough to make decisions for themselves, a little pat on the butt and put them on their way. You and Jessica will be great parents but I would not want to be around for the "debates" that will start to take place in 5-6yrs. Good luck Joe!

Good stuff Phil. I am very thankful that we had to clean the entire house every Sunday morning and barn chores were done each morning before school. It may have turned me a little OCD, but I am thankful for it.

I can still remember seeing teachers faces when I told them I was up 2hrs before school started because we had to clean up horse, cow, pig, and sheep chit. People just don't get it anymore, kids even less....

That's a fantastic idea! I have three nieces that would benefit from that.

One thing is for sure you will never know how fast time passes by until now. The time leading up until the delivery will go faster than you think so any plans to get projects done, like baby room, better get on it. Once they are out in the world you will blink and next thing you know they're going to school and then thinking of college. Prepare for the college thing now, not sure if you have any kind of Ohio college plan but if there is do it.

Truth. You don't have a clue about time until a kid arrives. What a life lesson that is.

We're getting divorced on paper a year before the kids attend college so they can qualify for federal pell grants. Lol.

Congrats! Everything you have done in your life will pale in comparison to what you are about to experience! Savor every moment, they are gone and out of college before you know what's happening.
