Rode a CR 500 back in my younger years. Baddest thing ive every rode. That description is spot on. I miss those days!
KX500 was equally strong. Explosive power. I had a YZ490. Not as impressive. Mine was pretty clapped out. Not very friendly power delivery. Also owned a Husqvarna WR430. Slightly smaller displacement and the wide ratio transmission. Best big bore two stroke I ever rode or owned. You could lug it and never foul a plug. Power was forgiving if you rolled into it. Twist the throttle and it was equally explosive. Just a more controllable delivery of power if you chose.

My next door neighbor let me ride his CR500 when I was around 12 in the mid 90’s. I didn’t wreck it or anything but I was pretty wide eyed when I got off it. I can remember the sound of the exhaust to this day.
