The Easter Bunny brought me a new Rod & Reel combo.
It's a 10' 6" Borealis rod and 5:1 spinning reel with 6 lb. test line.
This evening, I went out to my best friend's house (Greg Gonder) to try my luck with the new combo, in one of his farm ponds. After trying a few lures, I settled on a yellow tube bait and a 1/8th oz. jig head with a clear bobber, set about 3' above it. This turned out to be a killer combo for largemouth bass. I caught and released over 20 largemouth bass, 7 of which were over 12" long. 3 of them were 16", a couple of 14" and one at 17 1/2".
Greg caught one that was 16" with a crankbait crappie minnow, on one of my ultra lite combos and a "warmouth" bluegill.
I didn't get home until after sunset, but had a blast. I transferred most of the larger length bass, into Greg's newer pond, where they can be fed on a regular basis.
