I'd say one of the biggest challenges is that bucks have a hell of a lot larger "core area" around here. Sporadic 10-20 acre woodlots are just so easy to overhunt and screw up. Getting into stands undetected in mornings are near impossible when the deer are all over the fields. Mostly around here you're stuck hunting field edges. Probably the biggest thing I look for around here is if a deer will be secluded from being seen the road if they are out eating. Once season rolls around the deer in my are totally shift to these little hidden away spots
