You know a guy who works with suppliers in their supply chain also. Ohio white oak is in HIGH demand right now as worldwide consumption of whiskey and bourbon is on the rise. The new cooperage in Jackson is building barrels by the hundreds every day and a mill down the road is sawing truck loads of white oak daily to supply the staves. A good majority of whiskey and bourbon on the market gets its flavor from good old Ohio oak trees...

That is why our one farm was taken now instead of after harvest. Oak. Demand was way up.

Finally a man's thread.... I'd hold off on the laphroaig until you get a few scotch's under the belt. Best for the money and availablity is glenlevit .. The older the better generally. I've had the McCallen and I have found they are good but for the money I'm stuck on aberlour scotch.

Yup...Bookers was always my sipping drink of choice. Followed by Knob or Makers. I believe all three are made by the same company. I don't dabble anymore though. Way TOO many night of throwing the cork away after opening.

I may have to get a bottle of the Oyo. The guy we stay with in Montana, we always get a good bottle of liquor for him. It'd be a nice gesture to get him something made in the Buckeye State.
