First Golf Cart

I guess you could call it my "official retirement toy", my first golf cart. Always wanted one, but in recent years the prices have skyrocketed and most of the dealerships are blaming the covid years changing things. One year of financial loss, if that's even applicable to golf carts. Bicycle sales went off the charts. :sneaky:

Anyway, I found one sitting out with a "for sale" sign on it, so I stopped and the man only wanted $4K, for this 2017 Club Car with a Subaru gas engine. :) I purchased it and a 5x8 trailer from TSC, on the same day. A few days later I installed a street legal light kit on it, had it inspected, titled it and put a plate on it. I'm still amazed at the great condition of this cart and the good deal I found too. My wife and I have some community garage sales to go to, a few flea markets, the water dog races and whatever else we can find.

The steel wheels on my Honda CRV were getting rusted, so I wire wheeled them down smooth and painted them to match the trailer. Now, it all matches and my wheels will last a little longer too.

Well, the CRV was getting it done, but with its' 1500 lb. towing capacity, it was just barely getting it done. I stayed on secondary highways and didn't push it too hard. The trailer is 400 lbs. and the golf cart is 650 lbs., so I didn't have it maxed out, but on an incline it would shift out of overdrive. I can't even imagine how much it would struggle in actual hill country.

Most of my hunting buddies keep saying, "You need to buy a truck". So, I started looking around for something with a V6 and found a local dealership with a deal that I couldn't walk away from for the low payment, tax break on my trade-in and my brother-in-law's employee discount. This 2025 Honda Ridgeline Sport has no problem pulling this down the road.

The wheels don’t match??
It's close enough for $41K MSRP. :sneaky:

I really like being back in a p/u truck, but the technology is overwhelming. I sat in my driveway and spent 15 or 20 minutes sorting out what all I didn't want it alerting me to what's going on while I'm driving. I can literally get on a highway with edge lines, set the cruise and let go of everything and it'll drive itself. It won't let the vehicle get out of the lane it's in, it won't get more the 3 or 4 car lengths from the next vehicle in front of me and it'll ask you where you want to go when you prompt the mapping icon. The woman robot voice talks to you with normal human interactions. Weird. 😵‍💫

The biggest adjustment is no keys and no shift levers. As long as the fob is in my pocket the doors unlock when I touch the door handle and it has a push button drive. So, no shifter lever. I've had it for a week and keep reaching for my keys and/or the shifter handle to put it in gear or put it in park. :ROFLMAO:
First thing I bought for it was a full set of Weather Tech floor mats. (y)
