One of the joys I have been waiting on was to take my first grandson fishing. He just turned 3 so my last time home, I loaded him up in his car seat in “grandpas big brown truck” and we went to Walmart.
After much deliberation (as much as a 3 year boy can deliberate), he chose the “McQueen “ pole.
A nice bage of bobbers, hooks, sinkers and a tackle box along with a bucket o worms and we headed home.

Three bluegills later, we walked back up to the house.
My heart full of grandpa pride for the event we shared.

That brought a huge smile to my face, Jim. Thanks for sharing. It's really cool to think this may very well be one of the first outdoorsy experiences of his potential lifelong addiction to nature. Good on you for being another great role model and mentor for this boy. Grandpas are very special.

Thank you guys!
It’s hard to describe the difference of doing something like that with your own child and a grandchild. Both are long awaited. Both are priceless moments for each.
But it seems “easier” with a grandkid...

I wish you all the opportunity to be the one a child remembers that first took them afield to shoot, fish, camp, hunt or do something in the great outdoors.
