First Yote ever.

Well my coon trapping season came to an end this morning with an empty trap line but a whole years worth of memories. It was funny, as I pulled each trap I could remember back to the coon/coons I had caught in that particular spot. No mink this morning either but I still have a little over a month to catch one of those critters.

My buddy backed out on me today so I didn't get my rats put up like I wanted to but I had half a dozen of his coon boards so I put up some more coon. I had five coon thawed out so I figured I might as well put them up as to refreezing them.

I don't have any rat stretchers, my buddy has them, so I had to put those back in the freezer. I will get those done in a week or so. I got 9 more coon to do and half a dozen grinners and those rats and I will be ready for the auction the second weekend of March.

I put up 7 more coon today and laid the rest of the coon and what few possums I have out of the freezer so I can put those up tomorrow. Once I get those done I will have about a dozen rats to put up and I will be done until I catch some more rats and maybe a mink or two.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I put the rest of my bigger critters up today, another coon and three possums. I had four possums but my inexperience at putting fur up cost me one. That possum hide is thin! The three possums i did get put up were big ones though with two of them stretching 28" and the big one stretching 31". I just have a little over a dozen muskrats in the freezer to do now. I'm gonna try to get some muskrat sets and mink sets out this month before season ends, if the weather will cooperate.

I dropped my other yote off to the tanner this morning. The wife absolutely loved the first one I got tanned and wanted to tan the other one and have a pillow made out of it for my man cave.

Don, I have Rat stretchers for you. PM me a number and I will get you some stretchers and these video's.

If nobody has ever said this: Coons and Possums scrape better when they are cold as you can get them without being hard (Frozen). I'd get them inside out and hang them outside until their turn to be scraped. One burr in a possum or coon hide and it's rip-city!

Your Coons look Real good!

I had the pleasure of meeting Rick (xbowguy) tonight and he confirmed just as I figured, a super nice guy! He hooked me up with some like new muskrat and coon stretchers, a new Capital City camo hat and a quart of his watermelon shine. How's that for a first meeting? No real surprise though that's just second nature for the TOO family. But definitely a very nice thing to do. He also brought his coyote trapping videos for me to watch, which I will be doing here in the very near future. I just wish he could have stayed longer and we could have got to shoot the breeze some more and swap a few hunting stories. But that gives us something to look forward to in the near future. Thanks for everything buddy and I will put the stretchers to good use and will be sipping on that watermelon shine very soon.

So when your done with that video send it my way...went out to get wood a minute ago and the yotes were lighting up . Heard 6 or 7

It was my pleasure Don. You and your wife are very nice people. I know where you live now and we'll get together and carry on sometime. I hated I got stuck at work for 10 hrs today or we'd of had some more time. These 2 mason jars you sent with me will go to good use soon. The peach was tasted soon as I got in the door. I made it to Toms for a Black Raspberry Milkshake on the way home.....All recommendations were confirmed that the ice cream was excellent at Toms.

I took the last of my coons and my three possums off the stretching boards tonight. I laid my last 13 muskrats out this morning so I could get them fleshed and stretched tomorrow. The auction that I am going to is March 8th, so I have plenty of time to get finished up. As I took all my coons and possums off the boards I cleaned them up and combed them out so they looked nice and finished. I also wiped any grease off them so they would be good and dry. I'm still gonna try to get some rat and mink sets out but it's just depending on the weather. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Good stuff!

I got the rest of my rats put up this morning. Thank you again Xbowguy for the rat stretchers. Got a busy week this week so gonna see what the weather does and hopefully get some rat sets and snares out next week.
