Rats are so easy to put up, you really should. I kid you not 15 minutes from beginning to skin to tightening the stretcher. Virtually no fleshing at all.
I really think I am just going to ship everything north next year. I know the local fur collector now and as long as everything goes ok with my coon I have heading that way now I don't think I will mess with the local auction.

Just catching up on this thread don, Congrats on a great season.
I'll have to get together with you and pick your brain a little. I'm gonna take a crack at the trapping next season. Ordered some snares and a book and dvd yeterday, as well as picking up a couple leg holds. Next time out it looks like I should also grab some conibears and dps.

Thanks buddy. Conibears and DPs are the easiest trapping you will do. I will be more than happy to pass on to ya what I have learned this year. I am by no means an authority on any of it but I did learn a thing or two. Sounds like a nice chat coming up at the TOO Shoot.
I'm with the Dante. I caught my first 2 yotes this year with snares and hopefully I'll get one more before I pull them. I'm going to hit the yotes and coon hard this season, I just need to buy a dozen dp traps. I did catch 2 coon in 2 days with the only dp I have though.
I had both of my coyotes I caught this year tanned. The first I posted pictures of already and the second one I just got back today. Mary had a seamstress she knows make the second yote into a couple coyote hide pillows. I think they turned out great and will be an awesome addition to my man cave.

The backside is suede. We were gonna do coyote on both sides but the pillows were gonna be really slick and would have slid around all over the place.

I never thought about them being slick, that's a good idea. I think I'm going to do this with one of my pelts, just gotta find someone to do it.
