Fletch's 2023 Black Bear Season....

From everything I've been hearing we should be having a bear season this fall... Currently fish and game is hashing out the regulations over such things as baiting etc..
Come Oct. I'll have the honor of hunting with some members of TOO... That being none other than @Dannmann801 and @Bigcountry40..... Also possibly @Wildlife Denny who is currently undecided....
Danno and Jon are headed out this way at the end of the month to get some boots on the ground and explore the mountains of Northwest New Jersey... I think they'll be surprised at the vast amount of woods we have....
Next week I'll venture out to some of my bear spots and put out some trail cameras so maybe when they come I'll have some
pics of bears.... Some are up and about already as a friend had one on camera the other night in a snow storm.... I just came home from where we park vans for the pool company and there was a set of tracks in the snow from the other days snow... Looked small...
I'll add pics and updates throughout the year and I'm sure they'll voice their opinion after their trip... We might hike up the mnt. that's opposite their motel first thing Sat. morning... Pic attached of mountain... Bring your hiking boots gentlemen....

I'll have big bears on camera as the season grows closer, so keep an eye on this thread... Here's one in my yard couple springs ago and this was just after hibernation, so by fall he was much bigger....

Nick... You might be on to something... Here's one that was hit by a car about 100 yds. from my driveway... Town used a bucket loader to put it in a truck... Then about a month later another one was hit....

Yeh... That was a nice boar..... 450-500 lbs.... That's a residential area with a 30 mph speed limit, how the hell do you hit something that big...

Here's another big one that was following a sow about a mile away... Love was in the air....

Just went out to check the amount of water on my swimming pool cover... Looks like someone walked through lately... Hard to tell size as snow has been melting... Also no pad or claw marks due to snow melting... Yup... Going to get very interesting come fall...

Went today and got Dan's and Jon's permits to access a certain piece of land we'll be hunting... Manager said a hiker came in yesterday and said he bumped into several bears already while out hiking... Got their honeymoon suite booked... So when they get here, that Fri. night we'll go have dinner at a Rodizo place (all you can eat), then Sat. we'll spend all day in the mountains of North West N.J......... Can't wait should be fun....
