So, I've been waiting for a week to see my doctor after giving blood for lipid/metabolic panel. My appointment was this morning, and the results were as good as I was expecting. Since I saw her in July expressly for getting my stupid statin prescription renewed, I have lost 14 lbs. My total cholesterol was down again to 144 now. Triglycerides down, LDL down, HDL up. All of these waaay down or up since 18 months ago when I stopped eating a high fiber low fat diet (which doctor strongly suggested at the time) and went full bore on fat, protein, low carb, no sugar. I asked doctor for a compelling reason why I should keep taking statin. Answer, you should stop taking statin for two months and see how your lipid panel looks. :) She also suggested I stop taking one of my blood pressure medications for a couple of weeks and monitor my blood pressure myself. If it stays down, I'm off of one HBP medications, too, so BONUS, but no surprise to me. Ketogenic (sort of) diet, no sugar, and intermittent fasting has had real, desirable consequences for me. Nancy experiencing significant improvements of her own with her digestive health, depression, brain fog, weight loss, greatly improved energy. Fellas, this stuff is very real, very simple and very achievable. At 56 I feel like I'm 30 again, and my blood panel says I am actually markedly healthier now, too. Many of you reading this may not even be 40 yet. I was fine until I hit 50 and fucking wheels came off for me. Change the way you eat today for a better life. Teach your kids the right way to eat.

These are my actual test results from the last 3+years. and they clearly illustrate how egregiously incorrectly we have been told what and how to eat.

I started on statin drug in August of 2022. It is important to point out that I was taking a statin drug for 8 months and my entire lipid panel did not improve much eating the doctors stupid strongly recommended high fiber, lots of grains and vegetables, low fat diet. The exact opposite of how we should be eating. Six months after I started eating like human being should again, between April and October of 2023, something magical happened. Anyone can do this.

Polished off the top row of a 30 rack last night. Woke up @0100 fully inflamed. My joints haven't hurt like this in a long time. I didn't eat anything off path, so this is all from the beer/alcohol.

It's pretty amazing isn't it? Good for you! Another test that you can go get is a CAC Score. Ask your doctor to prescribe the test for you. Our insurance pays for it the first time you do it. It measures the amount of calcium deposits in your arteries and provides a coronary artery calcium score . Look it up, Kristi and I both had it done.

It's pretty amazing isn't it? Good for you! Another test that you can go get is a CAC Score. Ask your doctor to prescribe the test for you. Our insurance pays for it the first time you do it. It measures the amount of calcium deposits in your arteries and provides a coronary artery calcium score . Look it up, Kristi and I both had it done.
I have talked with doctor about that. I will probably do it after the first of the year, after my next lipid panel.

Just remember, if your doctor's first reaction is to prescribe a pill for you, then you have a dealer and not a healer. Find a doctor that will take the time to investigate the root cause of your symptoms.

After losing a wife to cancer a little over 10 years ago after a long battle, and then having to go through Kristi's breast cancer surgeries and treatments, I truly feel that the vast majority of our nation's health issues are caused by diet/food. Sugar plays a huge part in this, as do processed foods and seed oils. The food pyramid is a scam and most doctors have minimal interest in telling their patients that they are unhealthy because of lifestyle choices. We went to a breast cancer event last night and one of our friends asked if I was tired of my diet yet? My answer was that how would I get tired of feeling good? We both feel better than we have in years and when you get to this point in your health, it becomes somewhat scary to even think of going back to eating and feeling like we did before.

I love to cook and eat. I have to admit that it has become a self-inflicted challenge, a mission of mine to find keto friendly alternatives to some of the things I have always loved to eat, and creative ways to make things I know I need to eat more of more palatable and desirable like sardines for example. Cauliflower "rice" instead of actual rice. I have eaten four different kinds of keto friendly bread and buns in the last month, and there is one clear winner. I might not know I was eating 1 net carb per slice of bread if I didn't know. I will lay my hands on rutabagas and make them a formidable substitute for potatoes. In truth, the handful of times I have eaten something not on the approved menu in the last few months, I regretted it because there was a price to pay the next day in terms of fatigue or inflammation. Going back is not really an option now, and as you say Big H, why would anyone want to go back to feeling bad and living in pain? I cannot overstate how much better I feel ALL OF THE TIME now. Even my deer stress is less aggravating now.:ROFLMAO:

Low carb pasta substitutes on the way for another keto friendly food trial. Smoked mac and cheese is a must when you score a beautiful 13 lb prime left shoulder brisket by pure luck while stocking up on wild caught fish and dog food at Coscto. Smoker gonna run this weekend. :)

Turnips. Yes turnips. We now prefer them to potatoes if you need a little something to fix in a pot roast. I never knew.

Tonight I cleaned up the final leftovers of some strip steaks a made a couple nights ago. I also deep fried some yellow perch in lard... THAT was very eye-opening. The texture and the flavor was lightyears better than any fish I've fried in peanut oil. It simply didn't have that "oily" consistency. It was delicious!

I know. I know. I went somewhat overboard today. I also knew it would rain so I blew off an early squirrel hunt to the sounds of BJ Thomas' Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. (I bet he took some heat with that name!)

Objective: SWMBO's kitchen.

I popped out two white bread loaves after
only 4 cups of coffee.

Two cups later and with a runner in scoring position,
I pulled out a Canada Goose breast and jerked it
for deer and ice fishing seasons.

(Keep your sophomoric jokes to yourselves.)

Then switch-hitting, I went for the Buffalo Trace Benchmark #8 bourbon
and that's when I noticed some pheasant meat
that needed to be transformed into pupus for Happy Hour.
