Neighbor has a totally restored one. I tried years ago to buy it but it just sets in his storage building never used. I guess it's just a good feeling thing to him.

Gs are around 60 years old, only around 30,000 were made. They are so different from other tractors that even guys who aren't A/C guys often want them. See very few actually being used.

I actually got to farm with one for 4 years and man it was sweet...I'll buy one someday.

Someday, someday...

Happened to think about the ole AC G today and did some research. There is a yearly Roundup of G's in Gadsden, Alabama where the Allis Chalmbers plant was. It's in October, actually the 11-12 this year. I'd like to attend someday.

I found that there is a modern day equivilent as well, the Tuff-bilt tractor: http://www.tuff-bilt.com/tractor.html. They sell new for $10k and the implements are pretty pricey.

When I was at the Farm Science Review, I was chatting it up with the Allis club and a member told me about one that he is selling. New paint job and unoriginal draw bar, but decent condition. He's asking about 3k.

I do believe that this tractor may inspire a life long hobby...still need to drop in and see Sam's John Blue as well!

There is one less than a mile from my house. Drive past it all the time. Should I stop and ask the price? Can I tempt you with a picture maybe? lol

Most of our work at the cabin gets done with a Case 284 3 cylinder diesel. 30hp. Little Nissan diesel just keeps on working and working. At the main farm for putt around work it is a Case IH (Farmall) 55. Great little tractor also. You can get one for around $15k with low miles now if you look.

We used to have an old AC at work and man it was a total piece! You couldn't drive a straight line with that tractor if your life depended on it. lol I'm sure there are some great AC's out there but man I hated this one!

We just traded in a 70's (I think) Ford 4600. Man that was a sweeeet little tractor! It was originally gas, but at some point in time it was swapped out for a diesel. Lots of hours in the fields and marsh with that rig... and not once did it ever hesitate to start. If I had a piece of land I would have snatched that tractor up from the dealer in a heartbeat. Just an awesome, versatile little tractor.

It probably went to the state surplus auction. Lots of cool stuff there, including tractors but most of it has had the dog shit beat out of it.

Nope we traded it in (along with 2 others) for a New Holland. A lot of shit does go down to salvage and ends up at the auctions, though... Can be some decent finds there.
